Project Runway addict checking in: I WANT THE ASSHOLE TO WIN!
Is that so wrong?

Sigh.

(rubs forearm) I can quit anytime, I tell ya. (haunted look)

1. The asshole is a narcissist.
If another designer critiques him, they're "just jealous." If one of the hosts or critics critiques him, there's something wrong with them. For him, a jab is just a jab. Who cares whose feelings are hurt?

I say there are a plethora of good designers out there. Kick him out and maintain the nation's sanity.

15. A narcissist with pretty clothes
Why do I feel like the popular kids won.

"Thanks for all the ratings, Santino. Now fuck off."

I didn't care about his personality. I actually hated him most of the season. But his story on the finale part one touched me, and his clothes were beautiful.

Oh well, Santino can join me on the Island of Misfit Toys.

21. Honestly I didn't think his line was all that great.
I felt that they didn't fit very well - and what was that leather corset/pirate outfit at the end? I dunno. Chloe was a little shiny but I think her actual designs were beautiful.

36. I did seem, in the finale, that whatever demon had possessed Santino
had set up shop in Daniel. Santino was being a good boy for the most part, and Daniel was showing his age. Suddenly if he wasn't being fauned over, he was all sulky. And I wonder if the fact that Santino's models didn't show that first day for fittings had anything to do with his ill-fitting clothes.

In the end, I had the sick feeling the "popular kids" had won out over the outcast.

2. I want him to win too
but thats because I like his collection better than the others. And I do think he has gotten this far by being bolder than the other artists, though I do think he skated by for Kara's jumpsuit that was falling apart. No excuse for that, but from what they've shown so far, his collection is the most impressive.

3. Well, the asshole didn't win.
They picked a collection that looked like a bunch of prom dresses to me.
And those puffy dresses-WTF is up with that?

6. Exactly. Seems like they were dead set about Santino
winning. Because he was too tame, even though during the show they kept saying he must tone it down. At least they should have picked Daniel. The collection they picked-the dresses all basically looked the same, or very similar to each other.
Doesn't even make sense.
Oh well.

7. they did all look the same
the same few dresses in different colors. i was so pissed. "tone it down santino," "control your style," "it's too much." he made a GORGEOUS set of clothing that should have won hands down!

8. Agreed. I must say it would have been nice to see something
a bit crazy from him, but among the choices he should have won hands down. Chloe made a bunch of prom dresses, and Daniel made a bunch of clothes, while nice, looked like you could have bought them in J.C. Penny any day. It's one of those things-when they picked Chloe, I just wanted to ask-WTF were they thinking?

10. I'm not upset that they picked Cloe
because I like her normal work, but I didn't think her collection was that great? Very 80s inspired..same fabrics, same textures in different colors..alot of repeats, IMO.

11. I think, looking at the designer's work overall, Chloe was the very best.
Daniel V. was probably a little too inconsistent and young. Santino was extremely lazy at times, and very manipulative, especially when he glued together a jumpsuit for the runway. Chloe had the best blend of creativity and professionalism, although I agree her line was too poofy and 80's.

If you had cash to throw at someone, would you prefer a highly creative, yet unreliable and unprofessional asshole, or would you prefer to place it with someone like Chloe?

12. i'd prefer to throw it at someone who had talent
chloe has an annoying personality that i think throws people off, and most of her designs are boring and the same simple pieces over and over and over. in the fashion business you can be nice and sweet. you have to know how to play-to-win which is something Santino knows how to do. regardless of the outcome, i think santino will have great sucess, but i have a feeling cloe's 15 minutes of fame will end in a few days.

22. She already has a store in Houston, so I think she's doing all right.
What I appreciated was Michael Kors telling Daniel V. that if he wanted a job to give him a call. That was great. :)

13. IMOlSantino is raw talent in need of some more technical skills and
practical training which he may never get because of his ego.

If he were to get a job where he'd be forced to learn how to actually fit clothing and MAKE PATTERNS THAT WORK, he'd kick ass.

16. They were afraid of another Jay, I think.
They wanted someone who was ready to take their mentorship, ready to take their regional shtick and go national with it.

Apparently the 80's prom dress look is coming into fashion as well, as some folks have pointed out. It all looked to "Texas" for me. Like something a bleach blond with big hair would wear.

I thought Santino's line was beautiful, and if he had fitting problems, it's because his models didn't show up the first day.

Eh. I'm disappointed.

They thought safe was a better way to go than something inspired, like Jay's collection. Their loss.

I think I've given up on another show.

A big puffy pink dress is all I need for the full happiness.
Just like the one Chloe showed first-lovely.

30. "80's prom dress" is right!
I can't believe they gave it to Chloe. I agree with all of your points. Santino's collection was beautiful - they just didn't have time to "fit" the dresses - especially considering they made them do another "look" at the last minute.

14. I want the last dress Santino showed
The gorgeous hand-dyed accordion pleated one with the spaghetti straps. Let's face it -- I'm a larger chick, but that dress would look gorgeous on almost anyone.

I loved it, and I detest Santino.

Julie

p.s. Daniel, "safe" clothes nonetheless, should have won. The cashmere dress alone should have won it for him.

i'm so glad chloe won! i love daniel but he needs more experience and santino will do fine on his own. you know santino is going to get people to invest in a line of his work. i felt he really sold out on these clothes, i liked them but they were not cohesive as a collection.

25. based on the final collections
i thought Santino was the best. he had some really good dresses. a few ugly ones like that one with the huge puffy sleeves. but the really good ones were very good and better than what the others made.

i didn't really like Chloe's collection at all. it looked kind too 80s and just something i wouldn't want to wear.

Daniel was the one i was originally hoping to win. and his collection was decent, but nothing that really stood out. but i think he does have a good future.

i still wish Nick had made it to the final 3. i would have enjoyed seeing what his collection would have looked like.

26. I liked Andre and Nick
Daniel V's line had too much of a military feel, and I don't like might makes right. It's a bitchy harsh look on a woman and I find really tailored clothes can be uncomfortable to wear. I don't know if he meant to push military propaganda, but I would have preferred something a little less "military" stiff. Although he did have more pants and different types of outfits than the others.

As for Santino, some of this outfits were pretty, more were unattractive. Santino doesn't seem to like women. His comments about a couple of the designers not getting laid, shitting on someone's fabric??. Not classy, and I deal with enough assholes, who needs another? And the comments about franco being crazy (the one who said "I love you" to Heidi and wanted to push "love making" in his pajama line. Wow, love: how crazy is that) Santino was scary when he was arguing with the judges. Physically intimidating and competitive. But I guess in these violent times... Although he did have those little kids crawling all over him, and he did help Kara design his vacation outfit, so he's not totally selfish. Eh.

At least the women hung together at the end. Diana and Chole. I didn't care for the Texas big 80s shiny look, but at least the women held it together.

Andre was pretty good, and Nick seemed just like a nice guy.

28. santino's clothes
:puke: they failed the most basic requirement of any designer -- they didn't fit.
heidi had it right on when she said the boobies looked like they were in the wrong place.
his stuff was never as inventive or fresh as jay's clothes.

chloe looked like she was designing for ''dynasty'' -- BUT she did something incredibly difficult -- she sewed her seems on the curve, consquently her designs fit like gloves -- very, very haute couture craftsmanship. it's difficult to overstate how difficult it was to sew like that.

daniel most certainly showed the greatest variety and the most talent hands down.
and the judges knew it.
his clothes were brilliant and beautifully excuted -- there were really only two designers at the final showing.
he lost simply because chloe excuted and accomplished the more difficult technique.

29. You got it exactly right...
With the exception of the accordian pleated dress (which fit poorly) the rest of Santino's collection was uninspired and flat out unattractive.

Daniel's was sophisticated, classic, and showed tremendous variety. His white coat was fucking amazing! For my taste, his collection was the best. But I understand completely why Cloe won.

35. Santino should have won it.
I hated him all season, and I don't think he should have made it to final 3. But, they kept him around for the drama, so since he was there, and he did make the best collection of the 3, they should have given it to him. I think Andrae or Nick should have been in his place, though, to begin with. I thought Chloe's was the worst, and Daniel's was meh. Based on the pictures of Kara's decoy showing, I think hers beat all three, and if she'd been legitimately competing, I'd have picked her as the winner.

It makes me chuckle that spell check keeps wanting to change "Santino" to "Sainting".

37. You should see his website blog
www.santinorice.com

There's a picture of him along the side that makes him look like some sort of Greek Orthodox saint.

I guess the Finale Part 1 got to me. I've been the picked on kid in school, and I've known people who's attitude was masking insecurity. It was like the popular kids vs someone from the Island of Misfit Toys.
