Weekend at the Beach DU Meetup

MissHoneyChurch is coming to America in September and it got me to thinking of doing something fun for a weekend gathering of DUers - like a beach weekend (Somewhere in the MidAtlantic Region). After Labor Day weekend, hotels start getting really cheap but still warm enough that you might be able to take a quick dip into the Ocean.

Or we could do Atlantic City!!

Anyone interested in that?

I just need to co-ordinate with you and MissHC AND fit it in either before or after my trip to Toronto, which during that time. As much as I love OCMD, I figured Virginia Beach would put you a bit closer towards heading south and hopefully we could get some folks from further south to join us.

There's certainly plenty of places:

Virginia Beach, Chinquateague and Assateague

Wilmington (Atlantic Beach), Emerald Isle, Holden and Sunset Beaches

The water stays warm up until about the first of October here.

I just think it would be fun plus the cost of a hotel room off-season is a hell of alot cheaper than downtown NYC or DC.

I think it would be fun although I'm not getting into a bathing suit!

and there are plenty of cheap motels in Virginia Beach - bring your whole family or get a bunch of DUers to join you on the roadtrip.

I'm doing this mainly because MissHoneyChurch is coming in from England and I'd like to get a bunch of DUers togethr to meet her!

we might need a decent dive bar where we can have an afternoon party. We're probably all going to be staying on Atlantic Avenue IF we do this. (it's still up in the air)

By "keep me posted", I meant that if you decide for sure that VA Beach is the place that you finally choose, let me know. At that point, it appeared that you weren't sure exactly where you were going to meet. Just let me know exactly what kind of "joint" you want to hang out at, and I will scout out the possibilites.
