I wonder.....sometimes when I post in other people's threads, or.......
in my own...

I feel as though somehow I've tapped into a deep intellectual, emotionally honest river....

And the wisdom that comes forth isn't really from ME.....

But just sort of through me.....I almost have no control over it.....

But I can't always do it......If I force it, then it fails......

Your thoughts?

1. Sounds about right.
Welcome to your subconscious. It's frighteningly fast, but simple... ie. manyy small thoughts... thats my theory anyway...

I understand completely. Depends upon the way that you interpret the post and what it brings to the surface for you.

It is the strangest thing....yet it also seems so natural!

My interpretation is not conscious, either....it just arrives at my fingertips!

6. My dear SeattleGirl!
I am so happy to see you! I was afraid that this thread might languish in the backwaters tonight....

After all, it is Friday night, and the start of the weekend....

I did think my timing might be a little off......

Our minds are amazing things, true enough!

The really interesting thing to me is that sometimes when I post something, I really have no idea it will elicit the numbers and types of responses it does.

8. David Lynch writes his films with that sort of philosophy...
He doesn't come up with his ideas, he just "catches" them out of some universal consciousness.

"Whenever I ask him where his ideas come from, he says it's like fishing. He never knows what he's going to catch." ~ Isabella Rossellini

in terms of tapping into a stream or in terms of dialing in a radio.

But for me, she is more an angel who kicks me now and then.....

And then I can write, or take pictures......

But she doesn't participate here in my threads.....Odd...

20. Isn't it though?
I think that we subconsciously pick up on other people who are thinking/feeling as we are, and are lead by that to post what we post. Not saying anything that is mysterious. Just talking about how energy can work.

23. That sounds very Jungian.
Although Jung wrote a lot about common symbols and the deeper reservoir of common meaning in a culture, I don't see how that wouldn't carry over into emotions and common experience. If a group, or a culture, had commonalities like that, it only makes sense that they would ebb, flow, and act through members of the group.

That's just my fanciful .02

27. "When The Student Is Ready, The Teacher Appears..."
OR...as Bernard Leach (1887-1979) said:

"Do not pursue skills, technique will follow the idea. The idea will find technique, it is included in the real gift."

I don't believe "we" (mankind in general) actually "accomplish" anything.

I believe that things are accomplished "through" us...we are basically a conduit for things that need to happen.

This concept was the basis of a major turning point for me when I was working toward my BA in English at San Jose State. Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote a poem called The Æolian Harp...this poem, along with the essays and letters of Ralph Waldo Emerson, changed my life...

These shapings of the unregenerate mind;
Bubbles that glitter as they rise and break...

...Coleridge is addressing your comment here, Peggy (But I can't always do it......If I force it, then it fails......}

We can attempt to summon the Muse: "PLEASE, come out to play..."

That's not the way it works. We THINK the Muse responds, and then we step back and look at the finished product and wonder "Why isn't this special?" It's not special because we did it in our own power. The Muse wasn't in it, it was all "us."

It's a one-way street. When the Muse is ready to accomplish something "through" you, you will be summoned.

My goal in life is to have the kind of attitude that results in my being summoned as often as possible.

32. I don't consider what I write to be particularly intellectually deep,
and given that as humans I think we are often self-decieving - can't claim 'emotionally honest river' either.

If you find that level of words flowing... all the power to you.

I'm not claiming any real deepness either....I'm not intellectually rigorous enough for that....

And when it happens, it is mind-blowing! As well as powerful......

I relish it, and I am grateful for it...
