So we finally saw 'Syriana'
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 07:46 PM by ZombyWoof
It has been re-released around here in a few theaters because of Clooney's Oscar win. Never intended to wait until the DVD on this one, so we grabbed our second chance.

An intelligent, thought-provoking movie seems a rarity these days, and this one delivered. For a geopolitical junkie like myself, there were many familiar refrains, a bit of a Chomskyite flavor to the proceedings, if you will - but goddamn, between the cast, the acting, the pacing, and the unflinching grittiness with which it portrayed the characters and the plot, it reinforced my misanthropy and cynicism and at the same time renewed my faith in the art form of film.

Clooney has a formidable career ahead of him, and he has already achieved much. I cannot wait to see what awaits us next in his canon...

1. Yup, good flick.
the torture scene was hard for me, though. I had to cover my eyes....

I read in an interview with George Clooney that he was so badly hurt during the filming of that particular scene he actually started leaking spinal fluid from his nose. :scared: Poor guy. Word is, he's still dealing with headaches and other physical repercussions, but you wouldn't know it, to look at him.

I agree, we will continue to see great things from him.

You'll be thrilled to know I just got back from seeing the new mermaid movie called "Aquamarine" with my 9yr old daughter and her best friend. It's perfect for the "'tweeners"... :eyes:

:hi:

2. lol
Poor you! Looked too much like a 'Spalsh' clone for my tastes. ;-)

Yeah, Clooney literally suffered for his art. I hope he endures.

4. I think "The Good German" is Clooney's next movie to be released...

Should be interesting... it looks like there's an excellent cast!

5. I tried getting a role as an extra
They needed some German officers around my age... but alas, the need was met. :-) It was worth a shot, just being part of a Clooney film.

6. "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" was brilliant.
And great fun. Not really a mainstream film at all.

The remake of Solaris was just o.k., but it was not really the kind of movie screaming to be remade.
