Man, are my cats pissed.
With the warmer weather out, I decided to give them a bath since my apartment doesn't have good heating in the winter. They're none too pleased about it. :scared:

3. Why do you need to bathe them?
The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger is nearly six years old, lives indoors but is allowed outdoors whenever he wants, and he's never had a bath. He cleans himself, so I don't bathe him. Do your cats have really long hair, prone to matting, or something?

4. Long haired=needs bath. Short haired=no baths, please.
Long haired cats really can get super-dirty, and get matted, etc. But I think it's just torture to bathe a shorthair. They do it themselves, and their saliva actually has anti-bacterial properties. I've never bathed my cat, and he's super-clean.

7. Not exactly
All cats need a bath when one of the humans is allergic to kitty.

8. Ours get baths to help control dander and dandruff.
Ours our both short haired (a Siamese and an American mutt) but since DH is allergic to them (and they're his cats), they get bathed once a month. Further, our black cat has dandruff - many black cats do; they have very sensitive skin - and bathing helps keep it at a minimum.

They still hate me, but if they want their papa to continue living here, they have to submit to it.

9. Some cats accumulate dander. And that can cause allergies. My
little kitten screamed when I covered the guy with suds. The big guy came running in growling to make sure she was not being abused. They smell beautiful. And they seemed very happy once they were dry. And I can now live with them. They will be having baths again. Life isn't purdy all the time. Sometimes you have to have a bath.
