Poll question: Mass DUers: Preferred date for DU meetup
Edited on Sun Mar-12-06 02:33 PM by notmyprez
Hi all,
Since we've been having trouble deciding on which date to have our local DU meetup, and the weekend in question is this coming one, here's a poll to see which date, Sat or Sun, most area DUers would be able to attend. Feel free to add your comments, of course. Hope to see you there.

3. unfortunately we can't make either
too much this week with 220 sq. feet of tile going in and a new bathroom. BUT, spring is here and that means that a matcom DU BBQ isn't far behind!

you kids have fun now you hear?

7. This weekend is the 3rd anniv. of the war--probably not the best choice...
I would imagine a lot of DUers have some demonstrations and vigils to attend?

"I can make it on either day." will probably beat out the other choices.

Maybe flip a coin.

13. neither date is good for me
I have wanted to attend one of these meet-ups but the 18th my car will be out of commission getting detailed and the 19th is the St. Patrick's Day parade here and I'm marching. Maybe later in the spring.

15. Hi Amy!
Haven't seen you for a while. I'm guessing we're both not on here as much as we used to be. Wow--your son's 18!! You don't look old enough to have an 18-year-old. :-)

Sorry you can't come to this meetup, but I'm sure there'll be another one coming sometime later in the spring. Tell Sarah I said hi, and congratulations. I'm so happy for her.

:hi:

19. Oops! I mistook the date for the age.
Sorry about that! But you don't look old enough to have a 10-year-old either! :-)

12. Damn!
Acknowledging that this poll is a dead heat, I think I'm going to opt for Saturday, based on the (also real close, but not inconclusively so) response to the original thread.

Mrs. Squeech has been telling me that I should postpone it until April, and that has something going for it-- except I think the right thing to do would be to meet Will Pitt at Bukowski's on April Fools Day and make a bunch of ironic toasts to Chuck Hagel, Olympia Snowe, and everybody else who said they wanted the president to obey the law but weren't ever going to cast any votes to enforce that idea...

Anyway, I expect to see some of you on Saturday at the Cafe Belo on Washington Street just outside of Somerville's Union Square.

And I'm gonna cross-post this to the other threads.

14. Hate to say I told ya so
but this poll is far from conclusive. I say yay to the 18th and April Fool's at Bukowski's. Sounds like fun and the fact that many will be protesting makes me tend to agree with the Mrs. and my newfound neighbor to the immediate north.

It's been way too long and we can certainly enjoy two events. I'll have my chariot fixed for one of them anyway.

"Herding cats" I swear.

17. I'm up for it.
Michael, what time do you plan on being there on Sat? I'm also not sure where it is: is it Washington Street, heading toward the Holiday Inn (or whatever is there now), or Wash St heading toward Cambridge? Man, I haven't lived in Somerville for so long that I'm not sure I even remember where the street is! Hope there'll be something there I can eat! lol

For the record, I think opting for Saturday is a good idea.

Sunday I'm unsure about. Will anything be happening after 10:00pm or will everyone be passed out?

23. Hey
Since this is back on the front page, I'll mention that I intend to show up at the place at 2PM on Saturday.

I can't promise that we'll still be rockin' at 10; I'm feeling my age these days. (Last night I fell asleep at 8:30 :P )
