Best smells in the world
I was just handed a six-month old girl with a very bald head who had been in the sun for a few happy moments. I put my nose in what hair she has and there isn't any better smell in the world than a warm, clean child who has been in the sunshine. It is 80 here today and my DH built a swing set for her and her two year old brother. I can't catch him to smell his hair!

anybody got any others?

Especially when she leaves her scent on my bed sheets. It makes me miss her even more. So even better is when she's there and I sleep very soundly with the comfort of her smell & touch next to me. :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

my cat first noticed it too and was intensely sniffing my hand for a while when I was online one day.

49. Lilacs are my favorites too.
I was looking over the response--planning to put up Lilacs as an answer--but I see you already have.

When I was a kid we'd pick large bouquets of Lilacs every spring and bring them in the house. For a very short time our house smelled like what I imagined heaven must.

My parents have a lilac bush there at the farm that came from a start from the lilacs that grew on the farm where my Dad was a boy. When we bought our house I asked my Dad for a start off that bush for my yard.

The U of Wisconsin Arboretum is a great place to be for Lilac lovers right around Memorial Day. The Lilacs are in bloom around that time. I bet they have about forty different varieties of lilacs there...

18. In the spirit of Paddy's Day, the smell of freshly baked soda bread and
brown bread.

Yesterday, I stopped at our local butcher's; they double as the local Irish import store as well, and they were baking dozens of loaves of both breads.

While I was waiting in line, the smell was just delicious...and brought back memories of my grandmother baking them when I was a child.

Needless to say I bought two and Mr. Wonderful and myself enjoyed a few slices this morning for breakfast.

84. I remember seeing an aromatherapy chart
an ex-GF had, and vanilla was recommended as therapeutic and mood-elevating. I, too can be found just smelling the bottle.

The nastiest smell on the chart, described as depressing and headache-inducing, was patchouli. Hate that stuff.

I love going to bed in my dorm room after a long day and suddenly catching his scent left from the last time he visited (we have a little bit of a distance relationship. It's a 3.5 hour drive, but with work and school, it makes it hard to see eachother) Although, I'v got a really good sense of smell, so when we were back in highschool, I could smell his colonge and tell he'd walked by a few minutes ago.

Oh! And that wonder spring smell I'm smelling right now!

My SO told me that after you've smoked opium that just smelling it will set off receptors or chemicals or whatever in your brain the same way as if you just smoked some, giving you that blissful feeling for just a moment. I don't know if that's really true, but it makes sense since that seems to be the case when I smell it. :loveya:

I also love sandalwood, because it's my mama's "signature scent" as she calls it- she wears it all the time, so the scent of sandalwood fills me with warmth and love for my mama.... and also makes me a bit homesick.
