Are my eggs still fresh? (boy, I just set myself up for a bunch of copycats with that subject line!!)

But, we bought some eggs last night at our local BJ's Wholesale Club, as well as a few other items. We also stopped at the local Asian supermarket and a bookstore before heading home. We got our groceries out of the car last night around 8pm, but I forgot the eggs. So, they stayed in the car overnight after being in there for maybe 90 minutes before we got home.

Our garage can get fairly cold at night, though I doubt it's as cold as a fridge that is a few degrees centigrade.

I forgot them again this morning until my wife called me at work and reminded me. I brought them in to the fridge we have here at work, but is it too late for them? Or, should they still be ok?

3. As long as you cook them, you should be OK

However, you should know that this sort of thing (eggs being allowed up to temperature for a long time, then re-cooled) is exactly what brings about salmonella cases. You're right to be paranoid.

4. Eat them, but don't expect them to stay fresh as long as other eggs would.

Some people store eggs on the kitchen counter for a week or more.

I've eaten eggs that have been out with me without refrigeration for a few days in a Northern Minnesota summer and I was alright... granted, they were kept out of the sun and all that, but I'm sure they were pretty warm.

...at some stores eggs aren't stored at the proper temperature. My advice: reach into your pocket, pull out $1.09, buy a fresh dozen eggs and put your mind at ease. Spending a buck and change hurts less than salmonella poisoning! :puke:
