Anyone ever been on a helicopter tour?
I was reading this article from Slate

http://www.slate.com/id/2137739/

and was wondering if anyone here has ever flown in a helicopter and what you thought? I've never been on one. Sounds like fun.

1. I've been on one in NYC. It was super cool, a bit noisy. I'd hesitate to
go on one again just for the fun of it.... I am older, more paranoid and those things just always seem to be malfunctioning. That's just me.. a chickenshit. I avoid air travel if i can.

2. I have taken a couple
one at Mt McKinley in Alaska and one over the Grand Canyon

it's a good way to do a sightseeing tour since you can hover over the interesting bits and kinda slew around to get a good look.

REALLY noisy though even with the mandatory headset but great for picture taking especially through the glass floor

It can get kinda bumpy though.......

4. I had the chance a few years ago
to go up in a California Highway Patrol chopper to do a story on the CHP's aerial patrol. But the pilot (who was female, btw) and I could never coordinate a date for it. x(

8. Helicopters scare me.
I love fixed-wing flying, but someday ask a helicopter pilot about the Jesus nut, and mast bump.
