What is it with Public Displays of Affection, anyway?
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 09:43 PM by HypnoToad
What do people have to show off to everybody else, in public?

What do people have to prove to everybody else, in public?

Edited: Corrected acronymistic misnomer :D

1. Personal Digital Assistants or Public Displays of Affection?

3. I am not big on PDAs myself
I do not mind walking arm in arm with my husband, or holding hands, but the whole "get a room" type mauling each other makes me uncomfortable.

5. Why do you walk arm-in-arm or hold hands, in public?
No malice or hidden agenda afoot. Just a question from a naive, ignorant person.

7. We do not do it a lot
but particularly in crowds we do, because I have a fear of getting separated from the people I am with.

4. PDAs are one of those things (like an iPod) that I know I'm supposed to
want, but I just can't make myself want one, no matter how hard I try to.

6. I have one.....
And they are great when they work.....

But when they die, then it's not so great......

If you don't want one, then forget about it!

Life is too short to have things you don't want.....

:hi:

8. Life is also too short to be patient for things you want...
No matter how easily one can get it.

16. Quite...
Today I had some severe, unprovoked neck pain. And it took forever to stop the damn numbing in my arms...

10. Not fair to make that major an edit after the fact. Now my reply
seems odd.

11. There's a difference between a quick peck or nuzzle and making out
I see nothing wrong with the former (unless I'm single :P ), but I think it's really rude and crude to flash tongue in public.

I'm quite guilty of nuzzling my boyfriend's cheek, and he like to kiss me on the cheek while we're out running errands or at the movies. I think that's in good manners.

12. I was at the grocery store last week...
Waiting in the express lane, and the people in front of me were making out. Seriously. I wanted to smack them with my carton of milk.

13. it's usuall y not an about public display
it's more about displaying affection to your partner. If you like to touch your partner, you don't stop wanting to touch him or her just because you're in public.

14. Don't be jealous
The fact is, some people are in love and don't give a shit what you think. If you want to call that "showing off," that's fine, but I suspect you're just projecting. Making out is just fun.

15. Don't worry. I give even less a shit about them.

I merely asked a simple question.

And what am I projecting anyway? An original theatrical print of "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"?

BTW: Discretion is the better part of valor. :D

OTOH, you might be right... anything you can do to prove me wrong would be nice...

17. Holding hands, arms around each other while walking or
standing in line, hugs, even "little" kisses are fine with me. But yeah, those folks who are practically undressing each other in public -- ugh! Get a room before I turn a hose on you!! If I wanna watch, I'll go rent a porn movie.
