Intimate Makeover - Genital Plastic Surgery - LAT

In a quest to look younger, feel prettier and have better sex, women are turning to genital plastic surgery.

Los Angeles Times
By Melissa Healy

March 13, 2006

SINCE the dawn of its days as a medical specialty, plastic surgery has been marching inexorably down women's bodies, straightening, slimming, tucking as it goes, restoring the appearance of youth to features sagging with age and smoothing those marked by eccentricity. Plastic surgery's southward expansion has now entered territory long thought sacred...

...Most are seeking to restore what plastic surgeons are calling "a more youthful look" to this long-secreted corner of the female anatomy and often to improve their sex lives in the process.

Much, much more: http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-he-rejuvenate13mar13,0,517673.story?coll=la-home-health

9. Well, sure you can ask.....
I just read it this morning, so I should be able to remember it!

After having several babies, some women can suffer from excessive stretching of the muscles in the pelvic floor.....

This sort of surgery can help repair that....

There might be other issues, but that's the one that impressed me the most...

IIRC, there's also the issue of just looking better....and therefore feeling better about oneself...

In that case, then it's just cosmetic surgery the same as tummy tucks, liposuction and that sort of thing.

The article gives a lot more detail.

11. I have no problem with any
surgical procedure for medical reasons but I am against cosmetic surgery(IMHO) it is expensive, potentially dangerous and sends the wrong message to men and young gals that we are nothing except
one perfect BARBIE!

I see woman that are in their 60's and look like they are in their 40's. What is wrong with growing old gracefully? Woman are having all kinda cosmetic work to look better mean while they are not taking care of their health mentally or physically. We are the most addicted society with priorities that are so screwed up. Men are leaving 25 year marriages for the 30 year old who looks and screws better?

Sorry, for the RANT but I hate this!

What, the thing wears out after heavy use??? It's not like the average person might need to worry about, oh, liver spots or sun damage, eh???

Is it Colonel Mustard in the boudoir with the magnifying glass???

Just astounding....!!!

8. oh they interview a lady whose uterus dropped out w. too much childbearing
the reporter basically put a dropped uterus in the same category of cosmetic surgery as the chick who thinks her turkey wattles are too long, i guess otherwise the article wouldn't be long enough to fill out the space needed

10. You know, this response of yours is rather unsympathetic......
And since you've disabled your profile, I cannot tell if you're a man or a woman.....

Either way, it seems to me that you might try having some empathy for women who want/need this surgery......

17. Peg.. I think the uterus thing was mentioned "AS" cosmetic
and that's what pissed of the poster.. Something like that is definitely STRUCTURAL, and potentially life-threatening...definitely not a "cosmetic touch-up" on the "girly bits"..

12. That's insane--the case you note is clearly corrective surgery
You can't wander around dragging a uterus behind you. The failure to distinguish a medical, corrective procedure from one to make one's wazoo look frisky is typical of these salacious, No-news news types....

If they are doing it to impress a "young lover" he probably doen;t know what 90% of the "stuff" even IS...and if it's for an older guy, he iether doesn't care, or can't see it without his bifocals anyway..:)

20. if it were for medical reasons, that would make sense
it bothers me to think that genitalia are yet another area where women compare themselves to pix in magazines....how toned do certain of these parts need to be? Certainly there are pelvic floor exercises to do, but the rest of it seems excessive.

I guess I'm just of the if it ain't broke don't fix it school.

I don't know if putting 2% hydroquinone solution on your anus is FDA-approved or not, though I know nothing about hydroquinone other than it makes your asshole lighter.

26. How the hell do you make your asshole LIGHTER??
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 02:03 PM by SmileyBoy
A hole is not a positive tangible object. It's a negative one. It is the ABSENCE of something in an environment that is normally supposed to have something in it. A hole is the absence below a 2-dimensional space. You can't grab your asshole or your mouth or any other orifice on your body. You can't dig a hole in the backyard and then try to lift it up with your arms. Life isn't like a Wile E. Coyote cartoon. How the HELL do you make a hole LIGHTER?? Are we screwing with the laws of physics now?? What, does it make the hole shrink or something?? I don't want that. What if I just ate a huge steak and needed to fire it out later that night?? Something like that requires a wide tunnel. I'd be up Shit Creek then. Literally. What the fuck are we trying to accomplish here??

31. It's very anti-woman in my opinion.
These are very sensitive parts of one's body and I can't imagine how low one's self esteem would have to be to risk any complications to look "prettier" down south. *

What kind of man would even want his partner to do that? (I say man because I can't imagine any lesbian I've ever met falling for this or wanting it for their partner.) Everyone's bits and pieces (male and female) are unique and individual. You love someone and want to be intimate with them for WHO THEY ARE. Bits and pieces are merely the bonus. This has got to be the most dehumanizing drivel I've seen. (Unfortunately, I've heard of it before, but thoroughly enjoyed my rant nonetheless. :D)
