I'm getting ready to sign off in a few minutes here but since I saw your post I thought I'd pop in and say hi :hi:.

How is the weather down there? It was in the 80's here yesterday and I've been hot all night.

3. Good morning Clint
good to see you. It is sunny here again but still cold. I will go to my mom coming weekend. Only thing I still try to decide if I want to go by car or by train. Train is less stressfull, car is more independent .... :dilemma:

It's good to see you too, my dear! :bounce: It's still warm here...sunshine and 80 degrees again today! You're going to see your mom this weekend, huh? Well, if it were ME...I'd want to be able to go somewhere while I'm there, so I would take the car. I hate being stranded or having to have someone take me everywhere.

32. I could always take my moms car
but the weekend is planned already anyway. Saturday she and I will go to the Lake Constance (about 2 hours drive) to see after my dads grave and she has to check on her apt. In the evening we are invited to a co-worker of her.
Sunday will be just relaxing, a walk and then go home.

83. Yes it is!
I hate making that long of a drive. x( But, that's how long it takes if I want to see my parents. I COULD fly, but it is VERY expensive, and then I'd have to rent a car when I got there if I wanted to have transportation while I was there.

72. Morning MissH
It sounds like you're going to have a wonderful weekend with your Mom. And for what it's worth, I'd take the train, simply because I have to drive every day, sometimes I feel like I live in my car. So when ever someone else offers to drive, I never turn them down.

I barely use my car these days - thanks to living right next to the underground :)

I think I will take the train. I don't know how the road conditions will be since it is still cold and then I rather not sit in traffic jams - ver likely Friday early evening.

The day isn't that new here - it's nearly half over - but it's been a good one.

Man Ukrainian is back - she managed to find her monitor, however she has yet to realise that we've also hidden some of her food stash (she thinks that she ran out before the week-end). It's all been good fun. :D

87. It all depends on how highly-strung she is.
Today she isn't bad at all, her boss is out of the office...so we can get away with even more.

When she's compiling all of the financial data after month-end it becomes more risky (and arguably more fun  ).

The week-end is still days away...my brain rarely stretches to hours away....

Using Greekspeaks laptop will take some getting used to.

I need to acclimate myself when I change from my little tracker (which BTW would near bout kill me x( if I tried to drive it cross country) to my pick-up truck. I was really surprised when I had to figure out which button started my trike on Saturday. :( Proving once again: The Mind Really Is The First Thing To Go.

35. It's only for this week that I'm using the laptop...
Greekspeak's father came down with him from Missouri for a visit, and he's sleeping in the guest bedroom where my computer is located...so, I'm using the laptop so I don't wake him up every morning at 5:30.

I hate it when stuff like that happens...easy stuff (like finding the right starter button) becomes an odyssey trying to figure it out. Sometimes...it just happens. I don't know why.

70. Some memories are just a little farther back in the recesses of our mind.
I chalk some of it off to getting older. I really think most of it is the minds way of keeping the important facts quickly accessible. When I really need my old knowledge it floats back to the surface. Sometimes it even returns before I ask silly embarrassing questions or run for the instruction manual.

28. Hi mason
I'm doing okay. Today is Gaura Purnima, one of the most important festival days in our calendar, so it is another day of austerity for me. Consequently I have brought in my own food that I prepared last night, which I will reheat in the microwave here at work.

How are you? :hi:

47. I'm very good here thanks.
:pals:

Just over a quarter of the way through Lent so there's some austerity here too. I always make my own food, but more because of the quality of the canteen food and my avoidance of processed food than anything else.

It sounds like a fascinating festival too.

60. I was in India for it last year
If I was following it properly, I would be observing total fast (even no water, if possible) until moonrise, which is probably around 7pm. Then there will be an abhisheka ("abbee-shake") which means bathing the deities in water, milk, honey, sugar and ghee (we drink the abhisheka afterwards). Then everybody will eat. But, I am at work, so I will do none of that. Instead I am simply following the restricted diet on this day, which basically means root vegetables, fruits and nuts.

76. It must have been magnificent to be in India for it.
Will you manage to get to a Temple for this evening?

Having a pattern of fasting and feasting is one reason I moved from protestantism to Catholicism - one reason among many.

82. It was quite an experience
Sadly I do not live close to any of our own temples, in fact I do not even know of any Hindu temples at all near to my house. And even then, most Hindus will not be celebrating this particular festival. In fact most of them in India will be celebrating Holi: a completely different festival which happens to fall on the same day.

106. Is the Temple in Hertfordshire the right sort?
If indeed that be the right designation. The one given by George Harrison.

It's definitely much easier for folk like me - I can walk from home to get to Mass when I need to. I know that the formal rules state that if one has to travel for more than an hour then the obligation to hear Mass lapses (though I've been known to travel for longer than that to get to a particular service).

30. The responsibility is starting to weigh now
The programming is no problem, I can do that, although I haven't started it yet. But they have put me in charge of the whole project. It's only tiny, just two or three man-weeks work, but I am responsible for the management, analysis, design, everything. This is a relatively new experience for me. Still, this is the sort of thing I wanted to do.

So Tony wasn't quite so good at the groomers? Hmmmm . . . can't blame him. Hey, and where are the photos?

it's been so windy yesterday and again today. I'm afraid my little car will get blown off the freeway. It was supposed to let up, but I can still hear it howling.

Nice to have Greekspeeks's dad visiting. I'm sure he's enjoying more male bonding time.

It's been kinda windy down here too...but not like what you're describing. It IS good to have father Greekspeak here for a few days. He's fun to have around. :bounce:

94. I can certainly
understand Tony's misgivings. My cat is not to fond of anyone but me, but you have to realize she's pretty old. She also hates the vet. I took her Saturday to get her nails trimmed. Being pretty old now makes it more manageable, but when she was younger, ohhhh . . . look out. She'd hiss like crazy and would make threats with her hypodermic type claws.
