Yeah I lived there until I was about 7 and then we moved to Minneapolis, though I still have vivid memories of living there. I want to school at Lewis and Clark elementary.

I still have alot of family from there...been there since the early 1900's. My Great- GRandfather was Happy Paulson who was the Managing Editor of the Fargo Forum for like 50 years I think.

Fargo is a great place, though I have to say I wasn't all that fond of the winters there...

Yeah I definitely think a 2nd rounder is a steal under these circumstances. Culpepper's big appeal is his mobility, which even if his knee is healed, will never be the same. He blows out that knee again and that is it.

Moss and Carter made Culpepper what he is. I'm glad Brad Johnson will be back there. A steady, reliable presence is all they need to do well, Zygi is putting all the pieces around him, and they hung onto Koren Robinson.

63. I actually think Troy WIlliamson will flourish in the new offense too.

I know he has blazing speed, but Tice was using him all wrong. He's not a fly pattern receiver who will stretch the field. Instead, he can best use his speed catching the ball over the middle and running after the catch. He's so damn fast, and we'll see that this year. Just watch, this new chippy passing game will open it up for this kid. I predict a breakout year.

As for Johnson back at the helm, I'm alright with it now that we'll be using the WCO. In our old offense, he didn't flourish because he was required to throw the ball a long way at times. In the new offense, he'll be throwing shorter passes and doing more mind work. Daunte would've been screwed in the WCO too. It requires a brain.....that's why Michael Vick has some troubles too. We all saw how much trouble he had reading something other than a cover 2 last year and the WCO would've been that much harder for him to make decision in. He'll be going back to another offense, that former Vike's offensvie coordinator Scott Linnehan set up in Miami, where he can throw bombs and rack up stats. He won't win anything for them, but he would look like a clueless asshat either.

Also, I know that Hutchinson is good, but Christ........49 million bones to an offensive guard? He better be able to pull and run and crush people. If not, we REALLY overpaid.

Edit: TO add that I know that Hutchinson isn't signed yet, but I'm assuming that he will be.

I think in a way Culpepper and Vick's athletic talents hinder their development. They don't have to really learn the intricacies of a complicated offense...and that takes time. I'm sure they could if they really tried...but they are so used to being able to run out of trouble they have never really had to.

It is nice to see an owner willing to lay out the bucks for a change, even though the offer sheet to Hutchinson is way high IMO.

A bunch of Vikings took a boat cruise on a local lake. The cruise included several strippers (some say prostitutes) from out of town. The boys got a little rowdy and started mistaking some of the waitresses on the cruise for the "entertainment" they'd hired.

He's still awaiting trail on the charges.

I, a San Diego Chargers season ticket holder, was SO angry when Marty kept letting Drew play in that stupid, meaningless last game of the season. And then that JERK, John Lynch Jr., of the Denver Broncos and son of the local sports radio station owner, engaged in that dirty, gratuitous hit on Brees. I rembember seeing Brees holding his arm in serious pain, hurt right before the contract of his life was to begin being negotiated. I was sitting there mourning what could have been. If someone hits Johnny Lynch Jr. hard, I won't be crying.

20. Chargers ownership, (Spanos's), are the worst in the NFL.

They consistentlty get rid of and disparage popular stars when they ask for more money. They did it to Kellen Winslow and Junior Seau.
Winslow was All-Pro his last season in SD. Starting All-Pro! He asked for a bump in pay and the Spanos's dragged him through the mud in the press. Winslow retired rather than play for another team.
Kellen Winslow is in the Pro-Football Hall of Fame but not in the Charger Hall of Fame.

Oh, BTW, Spanos is a good friend of GWB and GHWB.

I tell myself that Spanos doesn't make any profit on the team (maybe $1M a year on the books); it is basically a job for his son.

And San Diegans are employed at the Q, and some rent does go to the City now.

But Hubby and I toss around whether or not we should be giving money to the Spanos family.

And I agree with what you said about the Team management and our stars. Look at how they treated Rodney Harrison. I was happy for Rodney when he went to the Patriots and earned two rings. Rodney really was dedicated to the Team when he was here, and to community activities.

They never really gave a shit about the fans or making the team into a contender. Alex Spanos is the 5th richest American. Sure its easy to spend someone elses money but with that much dough,and you buy an NFL franchise, you might want to use some of that $$$ to put a good product on the field and gratify the great fan base we have here. He chooses to be tight-fisted, whiny and arrogant.
Plus he's been holding the City of SD and the fans hostage, threatening to move the team if the taxpayers dont build him a new stadium. Screw Him!! Qualcomm is fine for football. Baseball no, Football yes.
At the most, the City could renovate The "Q" and add all those luxury boxes he so desires, with money coming from both the team and the city. But NOOOO! He continues to threaten us here!
I really wish that he'd sell the team to a local interest.

I thought we already had Antonio signed to a multi-year deal; so, I don't have to worry about that.

I believe Rivers will be a good quarterback; when I've been at the games, how he uses his heighth and skill seems impressive. He might just get going after a few games. Watching him, he seemed a bit awkward due to the lack of play, but I did see him put together a couple of really great drives.

L.T. seemed to be a good friend of Drew's. Don't know if he will treat Rivers well. But he is a team player.

Bear in mind, I'm no football expert; I have gone to the games as a season ticket holder for about seven years, although Hubby does have to explain what happened to me now and again.

But I am a retired social worker, and pretty good at people-watching. Marty and Drew never seemed to be that close. I agree there. Marty and L.T. seemed close.

I don't like Vick, all QBs who are run first end up sustaining to many injuries (Steve McNair) and if they can't transition to mobile pocket QB (ala Steve Young, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb) they end up like Kordell Stewart.

I understand that if that was the case that was a pretty good move for SD but don't count Vick short. He is a fantastic QB. He runs because he can. If he needed to he could sit in the pocket and do that too. Don't limit your opinion of Vick to what is already known, Vick doesn't play the same game as everyone else.

Vick running with the football always reminds me of Barry Sanders (but with longer strides) but unlike Barry Vick isn't built to take hits, Barry was so good at minimizing his body as to absorb only a fraction of the force directed against him. IMO Vick needs to understand, while he does move at warp speed, there is the occasional pro-football player who can match him and his injuries resulted from to many impacts and the awkward way in which he has taken said hits. He's got a fantastic arm, but until he learns just move enough to make the play he's going to keep getting hurt.

Philip Rivers put up some great numbers in college. I truly hope that he can produce at the NFL level. If not, Schottenheimer should be fired, if not tarred & feathered and run out of town, for starting Brees in that "mean nothing" game against Denver.

I remember turning to my hubby and going, "Is this a good idea?", about three or four times during the game.

And I will NEVER forget that play, and watching Brees holding his arm in pain right after.

After having watched Rivers a few times, what do you think? Like I said, I had this vague feeling that he was a bit awkward at times, but a quick learner who could take advantage of his gifts.
