Anyone had Lasik surgery?
Results good? bad? How much was it ?

I am considering Lasik for astigmatism in one eye. My overall vision is good but one eye is doing all the work. I am hoping Lasik would reduce eye strain. Since I am not getting much out of the one eye, I don't feel there is much risk for having this surgery on that eye. But would like to hear from anyone who has gone through it.

1. Not myself, but I have 3 close people who have had it.
All three are pretty happy about it. 20/20 vision or better now.

2 had 100% correction on the first try,
the third had to go back for a follow-up.

But apparently, needing a follow-up is pretty common,
and they tell you up front that it might be necessary.

Bear in mind, though: all three had the $$$
to go to the BEST specialists in their areas.

I have no idea what happens to folks who go
to the Lasik-clinics in the strip-malls,
but SURGERY is certainly not the kind of thing
I would ever 'cut corners' on.

Sometimes you really DO get what you pay for.

2. Yes, I have. Best money I ever spent.
It transformed my life, seriously.
After 30 yrs of wearing glasses and contacts, it's been a huge and positive change.
I just had my 7 yr anniversary of the surgery, as a matter of fact.
My vision is still clear and I give thanks, everyday!

Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have more questions. :hi:

3. I did. I'm totally blind in both eyes.
Just kiddin'.

All my friends who had it seem to be pleased. They bump into things sometimes, but they still seem to be pleased.

4. Hate to rain on the parade here
I've had it done.

Ten times.

Yep.

Turns out my cornea will not "heal" evenly after the laser does it work - hence the prescription doesn't hold.

I'm back to the same eyesight I had before - and glasses.

BTW, the surgeon who did it is the same guy who did Tiger Woods, so if he tells me I'm the one in 500,000 then I believe him. :)

i had both eyes done several years ago, it's wonderful, best thing i ever did for myself

a sibling had an untreated lazy eye that was legally blind and she finally got it a few years after i did, having finally figured out she had nothing to lose, again, it's wonderful and well worth it

go for it!

p.s. i had bad astigmatism in one eye, severe nearsightedness in both eyes -- and the techniques they have now for dealing w. astigmatism are even better
