Computer people, question for you re: out of focus fonts
I am trying to help a friend who has a PC that is all out of focus; when rebooted, the BIOS stuff is all clear and easy to read, as is the big Windows logo thing, but the icons/fonts on his desktop are really fuzzy and out of focus, and so are any dialog boxes, web pages, etc.
I cannot find anything in Settings/Display etc. that seem to help; I also tried adjusting everything I could find on the little knobs and buttons on the front of the monitor, with no success.
Any clues that might help me help him?
Thanks much!

2. Make sure your drivers are up to date...
Either that or your monitor is going bad.

3. Thanks much...Will that link work for Windows 98, or might there be
another link on that site for 98?
Hope it's not his monitor; he has another 'puter but it's a Mac and I know even less about those than the infinitesimal amount that I do know about PCs *lol*

4. The Site Is Micro$haft's Typography Site
It was available for Windows ME so it may work on 98 but I'm not sure. It could be the drivers or the monitor but I really can't suggest anything more without more detailed information.

Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/users.htm

5. If he has an LCD/flat panel monitor . . .

And is running at other than the monitors native/recommended resolution, it's going to be fuzzy no matter what you do.

The reason it's clear during the POST and the initial Windows splash screen is because it's still running at a default resolution. Once it gets into Windows, it's running at whatever resolution you've set within WIndows.

That's the first thing that comes to mind.
