will you all shun me? What if I don't want to highlight all my best postings? I bookmark favorites of everyones, but I don't just get this journal thing.

I don't think you'll be shunned for it. I'm fairly certain that after the initial swell of enthusiasm the majority of us who've started journals will find ourselves not posting in them more than once or twice a month anyway.
