This is going to be my first journal entry as well, but I have yet another work-related rant based on events today.

Warning -- strong language ahead.

I called in sick to work today because, well, I was feeling like shit. Normally, you're supposed to call at least one hour before your shift, but I woke up later than usual.

I first reached my supervisor and told her I was sick, so for some reason, she transferred me to my boss. Here's a rough transcript of what transpired. And what I wished I could have said are in italics.

Him: So, SA, are you sick?
Me: Yes.
Him: When does your shift start?
Me: 4:00. You're the head of this very small company. Shouldn't you fucking know when I come in?
Him: Are you "regular" sick or do you have a condition?
Me: I'd rather not discuss that. What fucking business is it of yours? Can I see your medical history, asshole?
Him: You'll need a doctor's note when you come in tomorrow.
Me: I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, anyway. The handbook says you need a doctor's note if you're sick for three days. You can't just change the damn rules. Who the fuck do you think you are, the President?
Him: Okay, bye.
Me: Bye. Go fuck yourself.

I swear to fucking God...

1. That is just ridiculous.

Having to get a doctor's note for being sick for one day! No wonder health care is so high. This happened to a friend of mine too. He went over that manager head and on to the general manager. He didn't end up having to go to the doctor.

It just pisses me off too. I have no insurance and if someone tried pulling that on me it would end up costing me so much money just because I got sick.

Do these people think that your a machine, their property or something. :grr: :grr: :grr:

Not that I don't sympathize with you - that's bullshit, to have to need a doctor's note for one day of sick. What fucking childish bullshit the boss is playing.

God, I don't miss the world of low-level employment at all.

I had forgotten what tedious baby-sitting bullshit I had to go through.

It's so much easier at the executive level.

Or, now, at the self-employed level. :-) But fucking eh, it was so nice at the executive level not having to keep track of sick days, vacation days, start time, end time...

But, much as I sympathize with you, that weren't no rant, that was more like a verbatim.
