Ever immersed yourself in a warm spring?

I think it would be interesting to hear about various warm springs around the country.
I've been to Calistoga, in northern California, had a mud bath and sat in warm and cool spring-fed pools. The mud bath was loamy stuff mixed with mud which envelopes you up to your chin and soothes your muscles.

3. If you have a bathtub handy

buy some mineral bath salts at a natural food store and add to a nice tub of very warm water. That can be pretty soothing, too!

for a trip to Oregon in the future. It does sound very wonderful. (I think I'll go light the woodburning stove...I'm getting chilly !)

5. Thermopolis, Wyoming..claims to have the world's largest

Hot Spring.

There is a free public bath house, you get 20 minutes in the spring. We opted for outdoors, covered large pool about 3 feet deep, with benches all around. There is an indoor one for those cold Wyoming days. It felt marvelous.

Nearby are 2 indoor swimming pools with slides, etc. which charge admission, all three are fed from this spring. The indoor pool places are open any day the temp is above 32 degrees.

I have also enjoyed the Bath House experience in Hot Springs, AR. WOW. There are about 10 variations on scalding yourself, then you get a cool down and a massage. There is one restored late 19th century bath house on "bathhouse row" and three large hotels with direct connection to the spring, so they have the bath house/spa thing inside. The water in Hot Springs is not as stinky as the water in Thermopolis,

Stopped in Pagosa Springs Co once, and there are several places there with pools, etc. But it is very sulfury smelling.

Right now this minute, I could use a long weekend in Hot Springs AR.
