As soon as my favorite shows go off the air, I'm done with prime time TV
I'm down to regularly watching just two shows: the "West Wing" and the "O.C." I used to watch "That 70's show", but it's no good anymore. I'll pick up the series finale in May. Occasionally I'll watch "Law and Order", but only if I'm bored. It's not a priority. Lord knows there are enough reruns on USA, TNT and regular NBC.

But West Wing and the O.C. are the two shows that I am deeply committed to. Nobody is allowed to bother me during those shows. As we know, the West Wing will end its run in May. That's kind of sad, but I can live with it. At least there will be closure for the fans, and ending the show at the end of Bartlet's term is a good cutting point. If the O.C. gets a 4th season (I tend to think that it will), then I'll be very happy and keep watching, but it too will be canceled someday.

When I watch these shows with continuous story lines I tend to get very into the shows and very emotionally attached to the characters and their problems. This happened to me with the TV show "American Dreams", and when it got canceled at the end of its 3rd season I was heartbroken. I'm still mad just thinking about it now. How dare those corporate piece of shit network executives take my favorite show away from me!

If I start watching another night time soap the same thing will happen: I'll get attached, and then be crushed when corporate bean counters take it away from me. I have written letters to Nielsen asking to be TV ratings household, but they have all been ignored. So in order to not get attached to another show that is bound to be canceled someday, I'm retiring from prime time network TV. Someday soon I'll only watch news shows, documentaries and reruns of old shows.

2. Try Boston Legal
It's very smart and funny. Plus very political.
I'm glad you kicked this because I saw this post this morning and I didn't have time to reply to you.

3. I'm gonna watch Sorkin's new show in the fall.
I've heard nothing but good things about it, it keeps a couple of West Wingers, and well, it's Sorkin.

But yeah, I don't watch much TV anyway. West Wing, Daily Show, Colbert...not much else.
