Husband of Andrea Yates to Remarry
HOUSTON - Rusty Yates, whose former wife drowned their five children in a bathtub in 2001, said Tuesday that he is getting remarried.

Yates said his former wife, Andrea, is aware of the wedding, which is planned for Saturday — just two days before Andrea Yates' scheduled retrial on capital murder charges.

"Andrea has been aware of it for a couple of months, and she wishes me the best, just as I wish her the best," Rusty Yates told The Associated Press in an e-mail.

He identified his fiancee as Laura Arnold and said the two met at church.
Rusty and Andrea Yates, both 41, married in 1993 and divorced in March 2005.

Andrea Yates' attorney, George Parnham, said Tuesday that while the new marriage would be a moment of sadness to Andrea, "People have to get on with their lives." Yates continues to stand by his ex-wife, who has pleaded innocent by reason of insanity. A jury rejected that defense in 2002, and Andrea Yates was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Yates continues to stand by his ex-wife? How so? By remarrying?

2. I remain convinced that he had a significant level of culpability
for what became of his wife and kids... That it was indirect, doesn't change things. I fear for this woman, but hope she is mentally strong and has her eyes wide open.

13. A few yrs back...
this individual went to work and left his mentally ill wife home with their 5 kids. On one of her episodes she heard God telling her to kill her kids to protect them against evil.

Of course, before having their last baby the doctor told him she could not handle another baby due to severe post-partum depression.

15. Kept overstressing her on purpose. Encouraged/forced her
to have all those kids even when she was overwhelmed, then moved them all into a small trailer instead of their nice house, even when they could have afforded the house. Very bizarre. Always struck me as deliberately cruel to her.

6. Same here.
I don't even discuss this topic anymore with my bf because I can't persuade him how the husband is at fault too, even if it's a small percentage. He says it's all Ms. Yates' doing and it's all her fault.

10. And you're keeping him around?...
Whoaaa!!

Have him read a little history on this case.

If he still feels that way, have him get a vasectomy.

Two words
"Involuntary Manslaughter"

I do believe he should make some time for leaving a mentally ill women in the house with 5 kids. For example, If you leave your kids in a car and they suffocate, you go can go to jail. I wonder why is he still free. I just don't understand.

4. How much do you want to bet that Laura is of childbearing age....
and that that sick fuck will father five or six more children with her.

Russell Yates should be in prison with his wife.

This used to be his website: www.yateskids.com I don't know if it's still up, since he's remarried and probably already spawning new offspring.

18. What kind of woman would marry a man who was so cruel to his
first wife? Andrea yates suffered from post-partum depression and yet, he continued to insist she have more children.

What kind of a human being is this?

Laura, honey, do yourself a favor and get away from this guy.

Look what he helped do to his former wife. Think he won't do the same to you?
