The bottles come in from a plant in Mexico. And it gets even better - these Cokes have no corn syrup. It's all sugar.

3. High-octane gasoline
I'm talkin' 96, 97, 98.

It still exists, I hear. But not in Kollyforniya.

4. Are you serious?
My car requires 96 octane, minimum, to run smoothly, otherwise bad things happen, at least it did when I put regular in my car for the first few months I had it. Its not even what you would call an expensive sports car, its an 89 Celica Convertible, 5 speed. Even with the expensive gasoline, this car is efficient, about 35 mpg on average, with city driving.

8. It *requires* 96 octane?
Do you know the engine specs? I'd like to know the compression ratio.

The highest-octane pump gas you can get in Kollyforniya is 92. Someone told me once there's a few places you can get 94, but I've never seen one.

10. Premium at minimum...
I know, the car kept on dying for a while, wouldn't accellerate, etc. So I asked my uncle, and he said that the car requires premium gasoline to run smoothly. It might be lower, like around 93 octane is probably the absolute minimum to run it smoothly, anytime I put in cheaper gas, I run into problems, they actually mention it in the freakin' user's manual. Next time I get a car, remind me to actually read that damned thing for anything other than looking at the fuse diagram. :)

15. Plus it can sustain a speed of 90 with...
varied grades of roadway on rural highways. Don't ask what my average speed was, but I ran from St. Louis, Missouri, to Springfield, MO in about 2 and a half hours. Yeah, I'm a little bit of a lead foot, but I made that run to visit a friend, was running late. On the way back home, 2 days later, I was able to go over 30 miles back home with the fuel light on, running on fumes and coasting "gravity assisted" as much as possible, I was low on cash at the time, won't do that ever again, but I made it home!

MF has always had wonderful products. My mom used it, too. I have noticed in the last few years MF products are shoved into the corner to make way for others more popular. Oh well.
He was the pioneer of beauty, but sadly forgotten.

History of Max Factor - Inventor of Max Factor Makeup

Max Factor created a makeup specifically for movie-actors that would not crack.
Born Max Faktor in Lodz, Poland during the 1870s, Max Factor became the father of modern makeup. With 10 children, the Factor parents could not afford formal education for their children, so at the age of eight Max was placed in apprenticeship to a dentist-pharmacist.

Years of mixing potions instilled in him a fascination with the human form. Factor opened his own shop in a suburb of Moscow, selling hand-made rouges, creams, fragrances, and wigs. A traveling theatrical troupe wore Max Factor’s makeup while performing for Russian nobility, and the door to fame and fortune opened wide. The Russian nobility appointed Max Factor as the official cosmetic expert for the royal family and the Imperial Russian Grand Opera.

In 1904, Max Factor and his family came to America. He had a fresh start in St.
Louis at the 1904 World’s Fair, selling his rouges and creams, and operating under the name given to him at Ellis Island, Max Factor. But he had stars in his eyes. Factor envisioned movie actors and actresses needing make-up and wigs. He moved his family to Los Angeles in 1908.
In 1914, Max Factor created a makeup specifically for movie-actors that, unlike theatrical makeup, would not crack or cake. Soon movie stars were filing through Max Factor’s makeup studio, eager to sample the "flexible greasepaint" while producers sought Factor’s human hair wigs. He allowed the wigs to be rented to the producers of old westerns on the condition that his sons were given parts as extras. The boys would keep an eye on the expensive wigs.

Max Factor introduced cosmetics to the public in the 1920s, insisting that every girl could look like a movie star by using Max Factor Makeup.

52. The original Fisher-Price little people
You know, the ones that could choke a small child? My mom has all my sister's old FP toys-the Village, the airport, the garage, the house, etc. The new stuff just isn't the same.

I also miss vinyl-coverd cardboard things, like Barbie cases and my old Barbie camper. They had a smell to them that I liked, and all that 70's artwork on them.

Dawn Dolls-anyone remember them? They were like little Barbies.

I don't miss metal tonka trucks. I got slammed in the face with one when I was about 2 (by another kid, not my parents). I've had nosebleeds ever since. It's a good thing probably that they make them out of plastic now.

Also does any one remember the Kim Aldridge books? Sort of a rip off, of Nancy Drew but I loved both Kim and Nancy.

Koogle was a part of my childhood for a very brief period; maybe a year, at most, before it disappeared from the supermarket shelves and I never saw it again. I used to love that stuff! Flavored peanut butters! Chocolate, vanilla, and other flavors I can't remember. And it was as smooth and creamy as cake frosting. Probably terrible for you, but yummy! :9

When you are faced with a chronic ailment you make choices. I'd take cyclamates any day, although NutraSweet is pretty damn good as well.

Sorry for those who hate the stuff, but the benefits of both outweigh the risks for me.

166. Well that's great news!
There was a factory near where I grew up and we used to go over there as kids with such begging faces and they would give us some! Also worked at the Coca-Cola bottling company.

Best of all was the box company where I could make my own "toys" out of them!

Now if I ask for Lickamaid I usually get:

A)bopped
or
B)directed to the nearest adult establishment.

Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 01:09 PM by pointblank
I was a HUGE fan of these when I was a kd in the 80's.

They were just simple names like the "Kings Castle" and the "Black Knights Fortress" and you could buy packs of soldiers and horses and wagons and shit and create huge armies....They were GENERIC, and thats what I liked about them.

Nowadays, you can still get legos like that, but they are all based on a movie like "Harry Potter" or "Lord of the Rings" ..... BAHHHHHHH! :puke:

Why cant they just make normal toys anymore...even GI-JOe. Now they are all "EXTREME" or crap like that.

It tasted like a Chunky candy bar.

I still write letters requesting they bring it back.

140. Spoon Candy.
You mixed up a pudding-like dessert and then poured chocolate over it which hardened into a shell. It was, I'm sure, loaded with unsavory chemicals but my sister and I loved it!

I can find Hansens Rootbeer and Ginger Ale, etc.... but NEVER the cola. It was the best.

160. They still make it.
If the store can get the rootbeer & ginger ale from their distributor (probably United Natural Foods or Tree of Life), then they can get you the Hansen's cola. Ask if they can order you a case of it. A case is four 6-packs. It shouldn't be hard for the store, provided you're dealing with a health food store and not a big supermarket.

170. Thanks!
I was under the impression that they didn't make it anymore. Next time I'm at the store I'll ask.

From the last year they made them. I love it, and tell my husband to bury me in it.

always telling me how great the 240 is. It's got its flaws, but I've been very happy with my "Swedish tank," as my husband likes to call it.

This was the UK name for Snickers at one point but I think the recipe was different for the UK.

mix, sort of a parfait), 1849 Biscuits - I think that was the name of the product, maybe 1879, anyway they were almost as good as homemade, and all you had to do was heat them up, put butter on them and enjoy!

161. Dental Dots.
Little circles of pressed toothpaste with a sticky back. Stick it on your finger and scrub your teeth, then throw it out. Great for when you're not at home and just HAVE to clean your teeth. Can't find them anymore, and those new Brushups don't do half as good a job.
