Does anyone remember "The Tomorrow People"?
As a kid, I was obsessed with this show. It was shown on Nickelodeon and I haven't seen the show in years. No one I know has ever heard of this show, and if it wasn't for ebay, I was on the verge of believing that I had made-up the show. I haven't bought any tapes of the show because I don't want to be disappointed if it turns out the show wasn't as great as I thought it was as a kid.

If you ever watched "The Tomorrow People", was it as great as I remember?

1. I watched it in the 70s! In Brazil!
The opening theme was positively trippy.

6. That's what I remember as well.
I want to see if it still has the same effect on me like it did back then.

2. My friend has rented many episodes
from Netflix. I haven't seen The Tomorrow People since Nickelodeon either. My friend said that the production values are extremely horrible, but the show is fun to watch just the same. She didn't realize that it was from the 1960's. :hi: I wonder if the 3rd Eye is out on DVD?

3. I've never subscribed to Netflix, but now I will.
Can't wait to re-visit this childhood favorite. Thanks for the heads-up!

I know how scary it is to see stuff that you just loved as a kid, only to find out that it is just terrible. I think this is such a cult classic, that you won't be disappointed. Just be prepared for the terrible special effects and production values. But hey, sometimes that's what is endearing about a show. :hi:

5. Thanks once again.
I openly embrace horrible special effects and production values. Makes it more kitschy. I always wanted the ability to "jaunt" and tried many times, but to no avail.

8. You know, that happened to me as well.
The show was called Battle of the Planets (I think). For a long time, no one I knew remembered it. Fortunately, I eventually met people who did and could finaly breathe easy about my sanity. :)

That show was called Battle Of The Planets in Britain also. But I think it was called G-Force in the US.

It was a Japanese cartoon (obviously) that I think they took and redubbed, completely changing the story even, and cut out the more violent parts (:() and put it out for western kids.

14. Well, to be fair,
I knew it as "La bataille des planètes" here in Québec. And for a long time no one I knew had ever seen it. I'm pretty sure it was called Battle of the Planets in English canad,a but don't quote me on that.

9. I watched it
As for great...my impression was that it was on the same level as Dr. Who; cheesy but wonderful.

Does that help?

10. Yes, that helps.
I remember it as part of the Dr. Who combination. I watched both but I think I was too young to be able to tag these shows as cheesy. But I'm sure when I re-visit "The Tomorrow People" I'll need a healthy stack of crackers to go along with the cheese. I think I was living in that special fantasy world of wanting to have special powers. But maybe since I was gay I was able to relate to feeling different. Or maybe I was just hot for the boys on the show.

11. I was already an adult when I watched
it with my youngest son. One of the few shows that both of us could watch and enjoy.

12. Cool!
Hopefully one day I will be able to do the same. But for now, I just want to share it with my guy so he can truly see how dorky his husband is.
