ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A school band director arrested on charges of taking digital pictures up girls' dresses and skirts has been fired.
There was no discussion of the recommendation made by the St. Johns County School Board to terminate Gerald DeJoseph because it was presented as part of the board's consent agenda.
The School District had investigated the allegations against DeJoseph and an investigation by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is continuing.
DeJoseph turned himself in on Monday at the Sheriff's Office and was arrested and charged with five counts of video voyeurism. He posted bond that afternoon.
Investigators say DeJoseph secretly took more than 100 photographs underneath girls' skirts or dresses without their knowledge at Switzerland Point Middle School.
Video voyeurism is a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
