It is a sad, sad day for me today

The antique store where I bought all my great vinyl records for 50cents each no longer is selling them. Actually it's a co-op and the guy who was bringing them in each week found a buyer for the whole lot. There were thousands of records still at the store but the good stuff had all been picked through.

So no more 50cent bargin records

3. you mean there isn't anywhere else near you that has cheap
records? granted 50 cents is damn cheap.

I remember they were 2.50 for used vinyl when I used to buy a lot of it....that was probably 20 years ago now.

6. You might regret it.
I still have most of mine. My first album was "YES". I only need a record player to trip down memory lane when the USA was a happier place for most people.

7. We've replaced a lot of them with CD's and downloads
There's some bands I know I'll probably never get again but the tops of the jackets all got ruined as they were stacked vertically against a wall and our kitties "made biscuits" with their claws on them.
Somebody that worked with me got them out of the dumpster though and took them home and is very happy with them.
Now if I only had one of those "console" stereo systems, I'd never part with one of those. I love them.

It's a long process. Look for used bargains.

12. The odds are good someone else has already done the work.
Is it stealing if I already own the LP, but somebody else has already made a good digital copy of the LP?

I don't know. That's all I'll say.

I do purchase CD's. If they are made from the original studio recordings, and the restoration is not too heavy handed, they are better than anything I can make from my own LP.

15. I feel for you, LynneSin.
I'd love to have had the opportunity to buy bargain records to begin with, but I know of no area that sells them.

16. That sucks
But half the fun of collecting vinyl is the hunt. When someday you pop in to some out of the way store somewhere and find out they sell old records... you will be ecstatic.
