Weiland calls Axl Rose fat, Botox faced, wig wearin' frightened litle man
Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver Feud

03/16/2006 9:22 AM, AP

http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/30898237

Their songs should be so passionate. The frontmen for intertwined rock bands Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver — both struggling to complete albums for release later this year — have spent the past week or so spewing venom back and forth. Which can't be bad for business.

The feud began when top Gunner Axl Rose launched a countersuit against his former GNR bandmates Saul "Slash" Hudson and Michael "Duff" McKagan, who left GNR in the 1990s and have since formed Velvet Revolver. The two had filed suits in 2004 and 2005 seeking the rights to the old GNR songs, accusing Rose of killing deals that would have put their songs in a half-dozen movies, including "Old School," and "Black Hawk Down."

But Rose didn't leave it there. He added a diatribe against his former lead guitarist, accusing Slash of making "negative and malicious statements" about him "in order to garner publicity for himself." He described Slash as a "consummate press, photo and media opportunist and manipulator" who was trying to "take credit for something that was not his." But it was a bizarre addendum to the statement, totally unrelated to the suit, that drew the wrath of Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland. Rose recalled a day last October where Slash, whom he hadn't spoken to in almost a decade, showed up unannounced at his door at 5:30 one morning. Rose claimed that during their conversation Slash tore into his VR bandmates, calling Duff "spineless" and Weiland "a fraud," among other things. Despite Slash's hard-partying reputation, Rose insisted his former bandmate did not appear under the influence when he allegedly made these comments during this pre-dawn meeting. The story raised hopes among die-hard GNR fans wishing for a reunion and disillusionment among dedicated VR fans, who worried this could spell the end.

Following the statement, the normally media-friendly Slash was uncharacteristically silent, making no comment on Rose's statement. The deafening silence appeared to validate Rose's comments about the meeting and further fueled talk of a pending Velvet Revolver breakup. On the third day, though, Weiland went ballistic, issuing his own statement in retaliation. On VR's official web site, he called Rose "fat," "Botox faced," "wig wearin'" plus other names that can't be printed here. He also attacked Rose's long-delayed album and ridiculed his aborted 2002 tour. "What we're talking about here," Weiland said, "is a frightened little man who once thought he was king, but unfortunately this king without his court is nothing but a memory."

6. Considering that all three of them are talentless fucks anyway,
and that Guns N Roses is the one of the worst, most ridiculous, over-rated, and completely inconsequential bands ever, truth is - no one cares, you assholes.

The media should just ignore every one of those dickwit pieces of shit.

Hey, Axl, Slash, and Dograper (or whatever your name is) - you aren't important or relevant enough to care about.

10. Thank you thank you thank you. GNR sucked hard.
Absolutely amazing that they had a half hour of fame with their recycled derivative misogynistic crap. Worst songs ever in the history of the world, all they were ever capable of was imitating the sound of some kind of unholy hybrid of led zeppelin and aerosmith, bands whihc should never be allowed to have offspring anyway. Songwriting? Hah, I spit on their songwriting. Sweetv Child Of Mine ends in the middle, he had no idea what to do so he just went into a completely unconnected irrelevent fade out as incongruous and stupid as when ashlee simpson went into the little hee-haw stomp dance on SNL. And slash, one of the greatest guitarists? On what fucking planet? I point again to the boring, stupid, banal, irretreivably awful sweet child of mine.

11. I will need to ask God when I get to Heaven how those assholes
ever made it to popularity. Granted, the musical and artistic tastes of the average American are beneath contempt, and they willfully and eagerly choose the steaming pile of shit over the perfectly steamed lobster just about every time, but even so, that still doesn't account for how they were popular for so long.

I don't get the Slash worship, either - he wasn't a guitarist, he was a guy with long hair and a hat and a stance. Image first, musicianship second. Like the "tough guy" in N'Stink - not so much a musician, as he was a look. Or Pink, or Brittney, or on and on and on... it's all about look, not the music.

Yep, Slash was the "I stand kind of at an angle and wear a hat and sunglasses and have long hair" player.

He was sparing us from having to look at him.

If I had a dog that ugly I'd shave its ass and walk it backward, as they say.

15. And the punch in in the solo of Sweet Child o Mine is about the
most blatant I've ever heard. When Slash goes from that slow, cheap neck pickup-through-a-crate-G 20-amp to the fast part, you practically hear the "clunk" of them splicing tape.

Don't overlook Paradise City when it comes to hack guitarwork though, Slash's attempt at "Shredding" at the end of sounded like some kid who'd been playing for three or four years trying to push his fingers as fast as they'll go--don't get me wrong, every player has to learn some how, but please don't do it on Mtv 45 times a day.

In fairness though, Mr Brownstone was passable.

16. A good friend of mine had a comedy compilation tape in the late 80s
Just a bunch of comedians, etc. he had recorded from HBO, etc.. But the best part of it was about 15 minutes of a G-n-R concert. The band was really, really off that night (more so than usual). Slash was so out of it, a song would end and he would keep playing until Duff or Axl came and smacked him, and Axl fell over (and I mean all the way over, down to the stage) about 10 times in those 15 minutes. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard; it was the most pathetic concert footage I've ever seen.

"Weiland do more Herion!!!!"

Not that he was awesome to begin with. But, he was better. Some people just don't know when to stop.

Velvet Revolver is one of the lamest excuses for rock today.

19. ok ok...enoughs enough......i like gnr and velvet revolver......
hell, i really like the stone temple pilots. gnr stood way out from any other metal or rock band of that period...who the hell was more talented than them in 1988 or 89...poison? winger? warrant? the bullet boys? please, appetite for destruction was ground breaking and the use your illusion albums had a lot of great songs on them. they bridged the gap between hair metal and 90's hard rock. like it or not, they will go down as one of the most influential modern rock bands.

i do admit gnr sucked live, but then again axl doesn't fit into my CD player either. i still own core and purple.

i saw velvet revolver play last year...they put on a good show...weiland came out dressed like axl rose...it was pretty funny. i had to wonder if he was still shooting up because he was awfully thin. slash had a bit of a beer gut to boot, but they played a good mix of stp and guns and roses songs, as well as their own. both weiland and slash complained that there were songs that they could not play anymore, though, due to rose.

20. How about Primus
Primus was around at that point and they kick ass. Les Claypool is one talented dude.

I like Stone Temple Pilots, early STP anyways. They had a great sound, I just don't find STP, GNR, or Velvet Revolver to be overly awesome, is all. Just my opinion. :)

21. Hello Kettle. This is the pot. You are black.
Two talentless hacks fighting like a couple of junior high school girls. Yee-fucking-haw.

Weiland should do the world a favor and jump off a fucking cliff without a parachute. Axl may be a putz, but Stone Pimple Toilets (or Velvet Retarded) could never make an "Appetite for Destruction".
