3. A great start would be this post.
You would already have at least one comment on it, via my reply to you and it would get you started.

A suggestion would be a good long rant. Recipes, old stories from your childhood, a story about your favorite pet, jokes, recount you day (good or bad), your opinion of Bush's latest fiasco (whatever that may be at that certain nanosecond because he makes at least 1 per nanosecond), anything you like from what I have seen. I love this new feature. You could round up links to your favorite blogs and go to the control panel and add them. It's great. Have fun. Nice virtually meeting you. :hi:

I'll add yours to my list of other journals. I think this journal thing rules. I just started a thread in the lounge titles "The ALL PURPOSE Journal Thread" here

for people to just make an entry to their journal without it being part of discussion , like a diary entry thread, sort of. It sank like a stone. Maybe we can keep it on top for a while by posting an entry to our journals there and telling some other people. Maybe they'll decide to pin either it or one like it at the top. Who knows?

6. I miss "My Posts" as a single-click.
Honestly, I check my posts more often than any other feature on DU. Couldn't the other stuff be combined with "Options" instead? Call me lazy, but I prefer to click directly to "My Posts" - I can search for the other stuff that I don't use that often.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thought I should let ya know. :hi:

8. My DU leads to a listing of My Posts, actually.
There is just more stuff there. I think we can still get to My Posts as a feature. I have Netscape, so I have a list of DU related bookmarks in a folder. It looks like a drop down list with DU related links all together in one convenient spot. The other day, I added something else to my personal toolbar folder and it threw DU over about an inch on the screen. I had to rearrange that. DU goes in one certain spot up there. I can click and go where I want to go with my eyes closed that way. Dunno what browser you use, but I am sure you have some sort of toolbar, right? Maybe you could try that.

Btw, good to see you around. Long time no see. :pals:

9. Yeah, but most of that stuff is available under "Options," too.
I prefer the single-click button that leads directly to "My Posts."

The options link is the same, only organized different. I understand you. Maybe they are in a transitional phase with this. I'm thinking they are working hard behind the scenes to please as many of us as possible. I'm hoping they keep the journals going as long as possible.

I have needed a place to vent my frustration today. I didn't really want to direct it at anyone on DU, just in general, I wanted to get it off my chest. That's one reason I love the journal. I made a general post to your journal thread up earlier. It sank like a stone, but I got my frustration out without really posting it in somebody else's thread or making the rant a thread itself. Sometimes, it is just better that way.

I've missed getting to spend time with you and Kitchen Witch. Physics class is killing me. Between english and physics, my spare time is kept to a minimum. Even spring break wasn't enough of a break.

Good to see you again. :pals:

14. yeah, so do I
"My Posts" is also the icon I use most often and now it takes two clicks ("My DU", then "My Posts") to get to the view I use to access with a single click. The "moderator messages" button in "My DU" is nice, though.

15. Skinner
can people actually write stuff themselves in their journal, or is it just for links?

sorry if this is explained elsewhere. And if so, will I have to get my resident software geek to explain how it's done?

thanks, though, this is a cool feature, if I can figure out how it actually works. :)
