I quit my job
I had to. I had had enough because my boss was insane and delusional. She would talk about "forces working against us" and she accused me of coming in the office in the middle of the night and changing her screensaver:crazy:. All this while talking about how horrible everyone was, from her vendors to her current or former employees. The last straw was when I got a call this morning before office hours started, about my father and started crying because the news was not good. She coldly asked what was wrong and I told her. She then made the comment. "If he is going to die, he is going to die, but he sure seems to be taking his time...he should just make up his mind and get it over with" all the while rolling her eyes. Here I am trying to pull myself together, probably about to lose a parent, and she is pissed that it is not on her timetable? There were more little incidents that brought this to a head, but this was the last straw. I have interview offers daily. If I want something, surely to god I can find something that won't involve working with paranoid patty.

The fire just exploded in me and thank god no one else was in the office. She then proceeded to accuse me of taking calls during office hours (it was 30 minutes until they started) and of "attending to personal matters on lunch breaks". Since that hour is mine, I was under the impression that I could attend to personal matters. It turns out that she frowns upon taking outside lunches. She prefers that people bring them in and eat while the work is being done. I don't eat, and I have not eaten in a week due to stress and having the flu. I took my things and left. I quit.

I am not going to work for a fucking lunatic anymore.

2. Good for you.
I'm sorry about your father. You don't need to deal with an abusive freak boss while there are more pressing matters about.

3. Too bad you couldn't have given her cause to fire you.
Because usually when you quit, you can't collect unemployment benefits.

9. Man! I'm glad you're getting out of there. It sounds terrible.
Congratulations on leaving the dysfunction behind you. That's a lot to deal with and totally heartless and inappropriate on her part.

Good luck in your hunt for a new job, and good thoughts for you and your father.

10. You did the right thing Sannum.
You shouldn't have to live your life working for a witch like that. I was having difficulty with an irrational boss and I shut him up quickly with three magic words, "Hostile work environment". He was an employee of the company and figured out that he could suffer from his insane actions.

I am sorry about your father, it is a tough thing to go through.

Unfortunately, we're a right to work state and have few worker rights in the first few months of employment. :-(

12. Good for you, dude
No one should be forced to work under that kind of abuse. I am :wow: about her comment regarding your dad. That's insane, and one of the most rude things I could think of someone saying in that situation. Best of luck to you with finding a job that treats you with the respect you deserve, and many hugs for you and your family

13. I hope you get a better job at more pay/benefits quickly
I am always amazed at how many people in management positions don't have a clue on how to treat people. It's not that hard. Just treat others as you want them to treat you. Mostly it's a matter that these so-called managers really are not that confident in themselves and they know they are bad managers.

Best of luck in finding a new job quickly.

Sorry that you dad is not doing well. I hope the news gets better soon.

14. Wow, sounds as if you are going thru a lot of powerful changes, Sannum.
I wish you all the best and hope the Fire within helps to burn away all that which you don't need, while at the same time, urging you on to your Greater Yet To Be.

Good luck.

16. Your sanity is worth more than any salary and benefits
Some (NOT ALL, so no flaming) small business owners start their own companies because they're too crazy to work with other people. I have worked for several of these small business owners, so I know!
