Just saw "A Very Long Engagement" |
|
Actually it was part of a three-fer (+ Crash and Corpse Bride) I bought used at Hollywood Video.
Wow! I LOVED it. The girl from Amelie is in it PLUS Jodie Foster (the latter was quite a surprise speaking fluent French).
A must-see if you haven't and if you "do" foreign films.

2. Is That A Great Movie Or What? |
|
A war epic, love story and murder mystery, all in one. Absolutely magnificent.
Suggested accompaniments: several bottles of good bordeaux wine, and a box of Kleenex for a glorious ending.....

4. Amelie is one of my favorites of all time. |
|
So, I surely enjoyed "Engagement". I hear another film from the same director is coming out shortly on DVD, called "Delicatessen". Pretty sure that was pre-Amelie.
Jodie Foster did a great job.

I've been meaning to check it out. I've heard good things.
The City of Lost Children is very much worth checking out as well if you haven't seen it.

8. Of City of Lost Children, you mean? |
|
There's a Region 1 dvd of that available, I rented it form zip.ca over the summer.
Delicatessen comes out on May 2, if I'm not mistaken.

10. Really depicts the horror of war |
|
absolutely ghastly trench warfare in freezing cold. I read the book and thought the movie was an accurate adaptation.
