1. No, it was good
The problem is that there is a deluge of those kind of threads in GD today...yours just got lost in the shuffle.

2. I'm with you, Paragon...
But not everyone here is ready to hear it... (As evidenced by my 3rd degree burns from similar attempts, myself)..

I'd personally like for GD to return to normal and banish the heated political nominee debates to a new FIGHT CLUB forum, if needbe until the convention. GD would then be limited to constructive debate on the candidates with no inflammatory rhetoric whatsoever.

4. The post made perfect sense
I am sorry that I didn't respond to it. You are correct, of course, we do need to stop eating our own and think about the larger issues.I would, however, have made an additional suggestion, and that would be that we need to stop arguing that 'so and so', or 'such and such' will work against our candidate. That is really immaterial in the greater scheme of things. What IS germane is that our candidates' positions on certain issues are going to result in bona fide progress for this country and a return to sanity in foreign policy. Political affiliations be damned if they don't benefit the society in the long run, and I don't mean just some in the society, I mean everyone!

6. Outstanding idea
Maybe if I'd started it "People of the planet Hoo-ston"... :silly:

Funny, though - my fellow Loungers found the time to read it and respond to this thread. Pretty much why a lot of us stay the hell out of there.

8. That was pretty good
I think it's just that nobody in GD wants to hear it. I think many would rather fight each other than join hands and find common ground.

9. Well, at least you were decent enough to make the effort

And who knows? Despite the lack of replies, you might have just made one or two of the GDers think a bit!

10. It was good Paragon! It was very very good!
"So try and conduct yourselves as if you were talking to someone else on DU in person - with respect for them, their views, and our common goals."

I like it! And if someone doesn't flame me then I'll play nice.
But I won't be intimidated out of discussing issues.

"Judging by the deluge in The Lounge, DUers are being driven out of General Discussion in droves - as the rhetoric towards, well...pretty much anyone...is getting out of hand."

Where are we gonna go when we're driven out of the Lounge?
The Double Secret Probation stealth forum? :)

11. It didn't suck
however I can't help but laugh whenever I see someone coming to the lounge because they're exhausted from GD. I mean, does that say volumes about this place or what?
