They controlled Norway for over 400 years, and pretty much absorbed the local Norwegian elite (whose ranks had been devastated by the Black Death). The damn Danes even took the body of St. Olaf after the conversion to Lutheranism. :grr: Norway went to Sweden as punishment for Denmark siding with Napoleon, but had nearly complete autonomy under Swedish rule, only sharing monarchs and foreign policy, IIRC.
