Explain Your DU User name!
I am NOT an aquarius! LOL Believe it or not, I am a Sagittarius. However, I love the song "Aquarius" from the musical HAIR. Now, the reason why I capitalize certain letters is my own secret...... Something to do with QA that only ONE DUer could figure out. SO, what the big secret behind your DU identity????

8. But you're bleedin' deMISED
You've passed on! You've ceased to be! You've expired and gone to meet your maker! You... are a late parrot! You're a stiff! Bereft of life, you rest in peace! If we 'adn't nailed you to the perch, you'd be pushin' up the daisies! You've rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible!

You... are an ex-parrot!

4. It was based on a conversation with a friend.
He was telling me about a friend of his, a real yuppie type, who told him that he fancies himself as an anarchist.

My friend laughed and said the guy was more like a "coffee table book anarchist," and then I modified it when I said, "Starbucks Anarchist," and it stuck.

Also, it's a contradiction in terms, much like myself.

But it goes well with "Oedipus," in a Greekly mythologic way, and since I'm a copy editor — or "oeditor" — I added the 't' because I'm clever that way. (I first used it as a username in a copy editors' forum.)

To foster a deeper understanding of and sympathy with man's relations -- the animals -- who cannot speak for themselves,

To inculcate the higher principles of humaneness upon which the unity and happiness of the world depend,

To emphasize the spiritual fundamentals that lead to world friendship

To promote the child's character through an understanding of universal kinship.

I'm been in story, radio, and television - I'm famous!

Thank you, Ralph Chessé, for introducing me to 'The Wonderful World of Brother Buzz' many years ago. Your values have served me well (even before that funny word, Ecology, was invented).

40. sure thing...
Contemplating one’s navel as an aid to meditation.

This word seems to be relatively new, at least the Merriam-Webster “Word of the Day” column claims it to have been invented only in the 1920s. It turns up in only a few dictionaries and seems to be a word that survives more for the chance to show off one’s erudition than as a real aid to communication. If so, this article is a further perpetuation of its unreal status. It is formed from two Greek words, omphalos, “navel, boss, hub”, and skepsis, “the act of looking; enquiry”. The former turns up in words such as omphalotomy, “cutting of the umbilical cord”, in the related omphalopsychic for one of a group of mystics who practised gazing at the navel as a means of inducing hypnotic reverie, and omphalomancy, an ancient form of divination in which the number of children a woman would bear was determined from counting the knots in her umbilical cord at birth.

It worrks. Grrrl power.

Just found out a zenzic is also a math term, a square number. Zenzicube is the square of the cube, the 6th power of a number.

I failed math, don't ask me to explain it further :-)

Bezdomny is a poet who sees the devil and goes insane. I'm a writer and every time I see George Bush I want to go running naked through the streets screaming at the top of my lungs.

It also means "the homeless one" in Russian and I'm an ex-pat so it just seemed to fit.

57. This actually came up yesterday
I unintentionally caused much speculation with my name--usually involving S&M or some other fetish, as well as one person thinking I might be an eye doctor--named for the thing you use to cover one eye at a time.

None of that is true--as colorful as they may be! I foundthis smilie on a different forum and knew it would answer the question. eyepaddle (I paddle) a kayak as a hobby/passion. :)

64. Orsino is the melancholy, somewhat airheaded duke...
...in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. It's the part I wanted to play in a college production, but because I'd written music for the show, the director pushed me into the Clown/Feste role, perhaps a much better fit.

But in being once half-blinded by love, and then getting it so very right the second time around, I rather identify with the Count. Hence my avatar.

dial: A graduated surface or face on which a measurement, such as speed, is indicated by a moving needle or pointer. The panel or face on a radio or television receiver on which the frequencies or channels are indicated. 90. My name is an adjective. Familiar to anyone who has ever ACTUALLY
read Mallory's "Le Morte De'Arthur"

Used in just about every paragraph, such as:

"Therewithal came the knight’s lady, that was a PASSING FAIR lady, and when she espied that her lord Belleus was sore wounded, she cried out on Sir Launcelot, and made great dole out of measure. Peace, my lady and my love, said Belleus, for this knight is a good man, and a knight adventurous, and there he told her all the cause how he was wounded; And when that I yielded me unto him, he left me goodly and hath staunched my blood. Sir, said the lady, I require thee tell me what knight ye be, and what is your name? Fair lady, he said, my name is Sir Launcelot du Lake. So me thought ever by your speech, said the lady, for I have seen you oft or this, and I know you better than ye ween. But now an ye would promise me of your courtesy, for the harms that ye have done to me and my Lord Belleus, that when he cometh unto Arthur’s court for to cause him to be made knight of the Round Table, for he is a PASSING GOOD man of arms, and a mighty lord of lands of many out isles."

I like the way is sounds, unless someone calls me "PassingGas",
which has happened more than once! :P

When I couldn't get her to stop crying, I told her that if I ever said "that thing" to her again, she could tell me I was "full of moose poop!" That made her laugh, so it worked, and it became a running gag with me saying "that thing" to her, and her gleefully telling me I'm full of moose poop. She's now in her mid-20's, and we still banter this way. She just might have the phrase engraved on my headstone someday.

That should more properly be spelled "Benfëa," but I use "Benfea" in online games because the funny punctuation makes it hard for people to use your name. 145. When I first signed on to DU, I lived in Oregon, which is on the
"left coast," so I thought that would make a good "last name" for me. I wanted my "first name" to alliterate with my new "last name," so I chose "Lydia."

When I moved to Minnesota, I polled the Lounge on whether I should change my name, but the overwhelming sentiment was to keep it. I rationalized it by the fact that I now live on the "left coast" of a lake. :-)

146. Mine only needs explanation insofar as to why the "moran" spelling
was not used. Well, my DU membership predates the moran guy picture. That's why.

147. the kwassa-kwassa
This was a famous dance done to soukous music from the Congo, a high-energy upbeat form of rock 'n roll, of which I am a fan.

It is also slang for "quoi ca?" or "what's that?"

154. I *think* mine is fairly self-explanatory. I must have traveled for Kerry.
I was with a group that traveled to "red" areas in an attempt to turn them "blue."

Clark County, NV, went blue. So, I did what I set out to do. I also encountered voter fraud there. Not surprising. :eyes:
