Another sign of internet addiction:
As I'm reading DU, I hear what sounds like rain outside.

Instead of getting up and either going outside or looking out a window...

I go to WeatherUnderground.com and check my local weather.

Is that lame or what???

6. Well here's the follow-up to the story:
After checking my zip code on WU.com, the radar showed a clear sky!

So, I thought, oh, I guess I was mistaken.

And then I traced the sound to an appliance!

So, yes, WU was more trustworthy than my ears in this case

Ahhhh gotta love the internet!

9. Here's my story
Yesterday I thought of your post and how we won't move from the computer.

My son has his computer in the next room from my computer/stereo/video setup - just a few steps away. When he has questions or problems with his computer, half the time I'll remote into his computer rather than get up and walk a few steps to the next room. How lame is that!

When you think of it the computer gives us a lot of power. Shopping for example. We can compare prices and specifications without traveling from store to store, getting, perhaps, biased opinions. Why, just yesterday afternoon I thought I had a problem with my digital camera. Within an hour of sending an email through the vendor site I had an answer (on a Sunday afternoon)!

You're right when you say "gotta love the internet"!

:hi:

3. What's really sad
Is the fact that it doesn't sound strange at all. I do it all the time. Especially now with the wireless laptop, I can do it from anywhere in the house.

7. I know what you mean, it's so easy to forget after awhile
I'll spend hours here on DU, convinced that it's the real world, and that the "outside" world is a horrible evil place filled with Bush-loving ignorant people.

And then I'll go out there, and it's not really that bad (until I see one of their bumper stickers, and then it all rushes back to me, and I beat a hasty reatreat back into the safety of "inside" and DU.)

8. Wow, that is bad. Although I check the temp online instead of...
stepping outside to see for myself, so I guess I am just as guilty...
