9. Bettie Page was...

a girl from Nashville, Tennessee who became America's favorite pin-up queen in the 1950s. She was called the most photographed model in history...who knows anymore.

She also modeled in swimsuits for "camera clubs" -- men who went to the beach to take nude and swimsuit pix of beautiful women.

She was also a model for Irving Klaw, who had a Manhatten-based "pin-up empire" -- including the ones that had to hidden under the counter at that time.

She's an "underground" icon to this day, and her postcards still sell.

If you google her name, you'll find hundred of photos of her on online sites.

In 1957, at the height of her career as a pin-up model, she left the biz...eventually attending a religious college and having some problems with mental illness.

She's still alive and will not allow anyone to photograph her.


...and I do think that's a pic of her...I have a book (from which I took this information) with pix of her and that picture looks like her "camera club" pix.

8. I don't think that's a real photo of Bettie, BTW...

I think that's a Photoshop job with her head on someone else's body. The *real* Bettie never had washboard abs like that (she was 5'8 and 140 lbs), and her proportions were subtly different.

Bettie is definitely hotter than Marilyn. We black-haired chicks have to stick together, and I'd rather die than be blonde. (Besides which, if those bondage pix of Bettie are any indication, we know who *really* has more fun!)

It is on the cover of a book about her that was authorized by her. I have it. Great book. Tells her story pretty well.
