Did you vote for Bush??
I had an interesting conversation with my brother, a avid republican. He's totally disgusted with AWOLbush but what's interesting is he's asking other if they "voted for Bush". He's been asking his republican friends and others but so far, nobody's admitting they voted for bush..

I think we should all start asking our fellow Americans while at work or play, "DID YOU VOTE FOR BUSH"??

1. I have had people admit it to me
with serious regret. Many people would never admit it at this point and who can blame them?

I sure as hell didn't vote for him. I'm of average intelligence, so that may explain it.

2. My sister and I were talking about this yesterday
No one will admit that they voted for Bush. However, my mother admits it and has started apologizing for it now. Diebold must have had some really good software!

3. All my neighbors and ex-friends did.
As well as my family ... except for harleydad and the kids. Most of them regret it. (Well, the ones who still speak to me.)

I saw a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker a few days ago. I guess some people are still dumb enough to brag about it.

4. I had a guy admit it to me....
And I have to admit, that it changed the way that I viewed him... voted for Bush because he "couldn't stand Kerry." The situation was wrong to really harp on him or ask about why he couldn't vote for Kerry, but... it definitely changed my opinion of him. Is that sad?

6. that's what i have heard the most from Bush voters.
"I just couldn't stand Kerry" so said the Norwich, CT librarian who told me she is a registered DEM but voted for Bush because of Kerry. interesting how some non political personality quirk or issue can sway a vote one way or the other. The swiftboat stuff had lots to do with it for the ones I have talked. From these same people I heard something about "traitor" or "turned against his fellow troops" or some other swiftboat induced comment, usually vague.

7. I did.
:hide:

In '00. And I'm thoroughly ashamed.

My only comfort these days is knowing that I voted in NY, which eventually went to Gore, so I like to tell myself that my vote didn't actually have any effect.

I haven't voted for a Republican in a general election since. I am still registered, though, and I try to get moderates on the ballot via primaries.

11. I've been voting against Bushes since 1988.
Voted against Bush I twice. Voted against Bush II twice for Governor and twice for president.

I should move to FL so I can vote against Jeb, too.

14. I voted for Poppy twice before I knew what the hell I was doing.
I was young and still thought my father knew everything about everything. I also had no involvement in politics whatsoever and didn't realize the implications. I became politically aware about 12 years ago and have been on the right side ever since.

16. I was back in Nebraska last weekend...
and I'm sad to say that I saw a B/C sticker and a Wastika. Granted, that was a total of 2 cars, but I was dismayed to see even that many.

I haven't talked to a single person who's admitted it since I moved to Los Angeles, but apparently there are still people in Huskerville who are proud of having voted for *.

to Dems.

A few pointers for Republicans turned Democrat:
By Jane Smiley

"1. Bush doesn't know you disagree with him. Nothing about you makes you of interest to George W. Bush once you no longer agree with and support him.
2. Bush doesn't care whether you disagree with him. As a man who has dispensed with the reality-based world, and is entirely protected by his handlers from feeling the effects of that world, he is indifferent to what you now think is real.
3. Bush does what he feels like doing and he deeply resents being told, even politely, that he ought to do anything else. This is called a "sense of entitlement". Bush is a man who has never been anywhere and never done anything, and yet he has been flattered and cajoled into being president of the United States through his connections, all of whom thought they could use him for their own purposes.
4. President Bush is your creation. When the US Supreme Court humiliated itself in 2000 by handing the presidency to Bush even though two of the justices (Scalia and Thomas) had open conflicts of interest, you did not object.
5. Tyranny is your creation. What we have today is the natural and inevitable outcome of ideas and policies you have promoted for the last generation.

And then there was the way you used racism and religious intolerance to gain and hold onto power.

Your ideas and your policies have promoted selfishness, greed, short-term solutions, bullying, and pain for others. You have looked in the faces of children and denied the existence of a "common good".

Now you are fleeing him, but it's only because he's got the earmarks of a loser. Your problem is that you don't know why he's losing. You think he's made mistakes. But no. He's losing because the ideas that you taught him and demonstrated for him are bad ideas, self-destructive ideas, and even suicidal ideas. And they are immoral ideas. You should be ashamed of yourselves because not only have your ideas not worked to make the world a better place, they were inhumane and cruel to begin with, and they have served to cultivate and excuse the inhumane and cruel character traits of those who profess them."

36. Why, yes, I did -- several times.
In all those polls last fall about who was the best college football player, Bush, Leinart, or Vince Young. Naturally I voted for Bush.

Wait a minute -- you don't mean THAT Bush, do you?! What in the Holy Menu Listing of the Great Flying Spaghetti Monster would ever make you think I'd do a thing like THAT?! :argh:
