1. How old is your computer?
Mine started doing that when it was about five years old and I had to get a new one. I hope that is not happening to yours.

17. I'm no expert, but . . .
My fan went out, too. I just don't think hard drives are made to last that long.

You probably want to start saving everything you want to disk, if you can do that in safe mode.

Good luck.

21. They can do that at the shop she brings it to. But the Power Supply has
to be fixed.

33. Do what at the shop? Backup files?
She can do that if it can be done in safe mode. I do not see a power supply problem here. I see a worn out fan, and a worn out hard drive.

Call tech support, because I'm no expert. :)

damn liberals teaching people about Safe Mode, when they should be promoting Mode Abstinence.

seems to stay in Safe Mode. I'm thinking it has something to do with the power supply at the back? The fan is shot.

36. Hey Darth Kitten, don't pay attention to Crazy...
Power Supplies are 30 bucks a pop, you can get one, and either install it yourself or get a friend to do it. The Fans on Power Supplies, the fan in the back, go out all the time, and if you try to get a shop to fix it, they will overcharge you, costing 70 or more bucks, so forget that. Go to a Computer Supply store and just buy a new one, just make sure its of the right type, ATX should do it.

But I've bought these things for as low as 25 bucks, the shops ALWAYS overcharge, I take housecalls myself.
