Definitive proof that god doesn't exist:
http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/678/678023p1.html

Someone bought the rights to make a Pac-Man movie.

Let me repeat that: a Pac-Man movie. Someone paid for the right to make one. The human race is doomed. You know that, right?

1. Aw... did my thread title scare people away?
Come on. Someone has to be just as horrified as I am about the prospect of an ultra-low budget movie based on Pac-Man.

4. That's the part I don't understand.
Pac-Man is old enough that it's mindlessly simple. I can't fathom what kind of story could possibly come from a yellow blob running around a maze eating floating pills.

15. Well, it did have a cartoon in the 80's
which was also mindlessly simple.

8. This isn't exactly Hollywood.
The rights were sold to some no-name indy outfit that plans on doing very low budget films with these licenses.

19. I'm not sure if it'll actually go straight to video or not...
…but yeah, expect the same stellar quality as you find in DTV products.

11. I think there was once a Pac-Man TV show
I'm hoping this isn't a figment of my imagination... I swear I remember a Saturday morning cartoon based on Pac-Man when I was about three or four years old (so this is ca. 1986-87). Of course, that *was* during the eighties when the game was peaking in popularity so it's a bit more understandable. I'm not quite sure what would possess an aspiring filmmaker to focus on that topic more than twenty years after the game's peak popularity, though...

(Alright, I just checked on IMDB and saw that this cartoon did indeed exist, but was launched in '82. I must have seen it in a rerun, probably on some channel like the USA Network or something!)
