9. Crispini, my dear friend,
its about 85 miles an hour (under normal conditions)

however, in a 100 mph wind it depends very much on the whether
the swallow (unladen) faces into the wind or away from the
wind.

In Most 110 mph gales, the swallow opts for stationary positions.

I have seen barn bats ripely disoriented by high pitched dog whistles

First, they refused to purchase 'those things' because they would

second, No.

Third...guys don't even want to THINK about that!

32. Weird story
I would never think of asking a man to pick those sorts of items up for me, I guess I figured it was my deal. My husband and I went on a road trip and we ended up checking into a motel very late at night, when lo and behold, my visitor appeared. He volunteered to pick stuff up for me, since it was like 2 AM and I had driven for the last 5 hours.

I do not make a habit of asking, but it sure is nice to know that, if in a pinch, he will come through for me.

I don't demand it of anyone but...

Look, if you are already running to the drugstore and I'm busy frying your ass a whole chicken then you could be nice and pick me up some items that I need. It's not like I'm asking you for FDS, douches, Preparation H or Monistat. And I'm sure that there is some other guy out there who wishes it were just tampons he had to pick up, instead of the EPT and a bouquet of flowers.

29. You know, I was chatting with George just last weekend, and ...
we had a very detailed discussion of this very topic. Oddly, it seems
that he has decided that he totally fouled up with this particular
article. He is terribly troubled and wondering how he might quietly
withdraw it from public discussion. (based on a few comments I had made)
He made me promise not to discuss the topic until he had settled on
a course of action.

26. Quantum tunneling: No it isn't theoretical wormholes,
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 12:24 AM by Random_Australian
and why don't you outline for us how they explain the otherwise inexplicable spontaneous escape of helium nuclei from unstable large nuclei, and how it explains that helium nuclei are the ones emitted? It's a simple, integral part of Quantum Physics, and since it is the single most successful theory of all time, if you try to tell me 'It's just a theory' I will kill you. ;).
(Unless you want a 400-page forum locking rant on 'It's just a theory', of course... :) )

first, let me remind you that this is America. If I want to believe
that Quantum Tunneling is 'something like wormholes..maybe' then I
and 100% FREE to believe it. I don't know what they are teaching you
kids 'down under' but that's how we do it in the good ole USA.

Second, I have my doubts about your comment that it is the 'single
most successful theory of all time'... I mean come on man! How much
money did it make? Does it drive a Porsche?

Finally...it really is "just a theory"

52. I disagree
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 11:39 AM by EstimatedProphet
If an answer is unable to be proven right or wrong, then it loses relevance. What I mean by this is that if someone poses a question, whether it is concrete, philosophical, metaphysical, whatever, an answer to it has to have the value of being able to be proven right or wrong. This is not the same as the answer must be right or wrong. That may not be doable, but if it can't be shown to be either way, then it loses meaning. For example here's an answer to a question that can't be proven right or wrong:

Q: How do you set the timing on a 6 cyl 1998 Ford Tempo?
A: Orange.

The answer can't be proven right or wrong, and it has no meaning for the question. Even with metaphysical questions like does God exist, the answer has the ability to be shown at some point-you may have to die before you can find out, but there is a correct answer.

75. NO WAY ....
You were thinking of 66 and just won't admit it!!!
You cannot think of pi because if you were you would
still be thinking of it. Because you can never get to
the end of it and since you obviously got to the end of
it, you went to 'default' ie sixty six.

76. Kitchenwitch...HA HA
A "tp" is obviously shorthand for 'the dwelling place of some native
americans" As an aside, usually plains 'indians' who were nomadic.

In victorian England, A tea pee was a brief break taken by elegant
ladies after afternoon tea and crumpets.

In certain mathematical circles (frequented by File83 -see above-)
it meant "at the numeric quantiy pi or, a brief interlude after
afternoon tea and crumptets"

I almost said Atropine. But I forgot what that was.
