With all the advertising at the movie theatre
I think we should get into the movies for free.

4. I always thought that about Sky TV
That's Rupert Murdoch's satellite TV service here in the UK. It's well expensive to subscribe, and yet Sky One carries more adverts than any of the commercial terrestrial channels! You'd think what with paying for a premium service one of the benefits would be fewer ads. But no.

:hi:

5. I've had that thought
And it's on DVDs, too. Before I could watch "Good Night, and Good Luck" last night, I would've had to sit through about 10 minutes of previews if I hadn't fast-forwarded.

That is not what I pay for. :grr:

7. You know, I do not mind the previews
It is the advertising for products that kills me.

Heard it at the drive-in when I was a kid. Plus, it was in "Grease."

17. Yup
You know this movie? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082639/ It has Paul Simonon from the Clash, Paul Cook and Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols, as well as Black Randy and the Metro Squad doing "I Slept in an Arcade." Plus Fee Waybill and Vince Welnick from the Tubes.

It's a punk cult classic. I've got the DVD.

12. Projectionist and theater employees hate it too.
The advertising, that is. Changing the thirty second long Pepsi ad is a major pain in the ass. I used to stop the movies after the ad I needed to pull ran, and then I could plug in the new one without altering the shape of the film on the platter. Doing it the way you normally replaced trailers was very difficult without getting a huge amount of film breaks*. Just because all the ads needed to be changed at the same time, with trailers I could do one or two at a time through the week.

*If the film isn't a perfect circle the odds of it breaking jumps up like a 1000%. You need to keep a constant eye on those. One or two is doable, 12 is retarded.
