I don't know whether to be pleased or hurt.

3. LOL! I've had that happen too at my last job
Trouble is, they didn't notice when I came in early and stayed late either.

4. You mean nobody said anything. Big difference.
I wouldn't make a habit of it.

7. It's not a habit.
Besides, I'm in management anyway. Everyone probably figured I was in a meeting or something.

5. Maybe your employer has "flex-time"
. . . and no one bothered to tell you.

;-)

6. My boss is oblivious like that too
I don't know if he realizes it when I'm gone, since I'm not there. When the other person in our department is not there, he acts suprised and says "Really, she's not here today." What's really bad is that she is in a rather visable position and he usually finds out that she is not there when he asks me to do something while I am doing her job at around 10 o'clock when we get there at 6:30 a.m.

8. What would be worse
is if you made 1,000 posts at DU and no one noticed.

Congratulations! :toast:

9. I'd venture to say that most of my posts go unnoticed.
Mostly because I don't like fighting with other progressives unless it's about sports or something else unimportant. I save the fangs for the actual enemy.

But thanks!

10. When I worked at Hills department store...
I was late quite often. My bossy Terry knew I had him by the balls...I was more than competent enough to fill the position, and he was trying to skimp on payroll as much as he could so it worked out

12. Top ten reasons no colleage mentioned Blue Jay's late arrival
10. Afraid Blue Jay will say that his car broke down, and is afraid that by asking s/he will be obligated to drive 30 minutes out of the way to take Blue Jay home after work.

9. Took too many anti-depressents this morning and am afraid to speak lest anyone notices.

8. Just had coffee on an empty stomach and doesn't want to risk a blow-by-blow medical description of a rare ailment that caused lateness.

7. Is saving knowledge for a freebie 1 hour late pass in the future.

6. Doesn't want to call Blue Jay's attention to the donut tray... there is one last donut... mmmmmm do-nuts....

5. Suspect Blue Jay might have been having coffee with the office's resident crazy guy's ex girlfriend and wants to avoid a going postal incident.

4. Waiting til no one's looking to run and tell the boss... but wait... Blue Jay's the boss... Foiled Again!

3. Noticed Blue Jay is wearing mis-matched shoes (again!) and wanted to let Blue Jay get his feet safely behind a desk before saying anything.

2. Has an obsessive crush on Blue Jay and doesn't want to look suspicious by asking him anything.

1. Who's Blue Jay?

Congrats on NOT being asked/called on it...

And a big Congrats on the 1000th+ post. :7

13. Hahaha! You put waaaay too much thought into that.
Actually, a few of the people who outrank me were in a morning meeting. They assumed I was at my desk, and everyone else assumed I was in the meeting as well. Man, I need a louder alarm clock. (maybe less bourbon would help too)

15. Darn!
didn't think of spinning the bourbon into one of those.

For what its worth - I arrived (after a long commute) 5 minutes late - were meeting a bunch of college students to give a presentation... the room was full (at first salin gave a few silent expletive's)... then realized it was a different group taking the room and any minute 20 college students from an hour away were going to file into the little lobby... (salin was working hard to supress the expletives at this point)... found my colleague who got there early - but went to our back office - when he came in the conference room was empty... and the person who keeps the schedules and man's the front desk - wasn't in yet.

What an enjoyable way to set the stage for an "educational" lecture.

14. Welcome to the K street Klub
Which is what I think 1000th posts should be called...as in 1k.

I mistakenly posted on a candidate thread the other morning and was late for work because I got sucked into the giant vacuum of "Isnot/istoo-youaresostupidnaivelackinganyredeemingqualities"
high quality discussion.

I have semi-officially joined those who hide out in the lounge.

I say if they didn't notice...well, I guess you have other meetings you need to do in the morning from now on....

:)

17. hello Ms Salin
hey, I lost your email addie when my computer crashed...send me an email, pleeeeeeeeeze. :)

are you going to the MoveOn video showing on Sunday? I have info to share, and I wanted to email it to you.

...and speaking of jobs and bosses...

mine always goes out of town just before Christmas until the first week of January or so...and basically was telling me that if classes don't start right away...I should continue to work for her.

Not only that, but she is not going to hire anyone until after the New Year, because I said I could work/fill in/help train someone in Dec...so I guess I gave a five week or so notice...

and she has another job she wants me to do after I "officially" quit...beyond functioning as a buyer for her.

So, Blue-Jay, just be happy you're management... :)

19. thread roping
...not a hijacking, just sort of roping in another thread header to make a comment here...

maybe I'm crazy, but why would anyone in the world EVER tell an online forum whether or not they hide a key outside of their house?!?!?!?

...I didn't even look at the thread, I just thought... huh?

let's all post our American Express numbers online...
