How much does a sports championship mean to you?

Poll question: How much does a sports championship mean to you?

I mean a championship for your favorite pro or college sports team. I can't really say. I was a fan of the Washington Redskins when they won, and I still wanted another one the next year. But now, I think I'd be satisfied for a while.

2. Well, I would like to see my Chiefs when another Super Bowl

In my lifetime. I would also like to see my MU Tigers win a title in football or basketball(preferably both) at some point in my lifetime. But hey, such things like sitting through 1-10 seasons, watching talent wasted, etc. builds character.

But hey, once in awhile the Cardinals give me that championship thrill in baseball, and the Lakers are regulars at winning it all in pro B-ball, so it's all good.

but they hadn't won any in my lifetime. I say it again its best when you're doubted, and if you got the right guys on the team, they will use it to their advantage.

The best thing about the NFL these days rather than the MLB is that the team that spends the most money on free agents doesn't always suceed *cough* Redskins making a big mistake signing Antawn Randle El, Andre Carter, Adam Archaletta. The NFC East will be interesting to watch next year though.

There have been several pro teams with poor records one year that won it all the next year. BTW, congrats again to your Steelers!

If I hadn't been a Redskins fan back in their day, I wouldn't even know what a championship is like.

Football really I think is the most popular sport right now because of this, Baseball's gone downhill IMO not just because of the steroids scandals but also because of teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, etc dominating hte economic field of play, I want another surprise team to win in baseball this year that said, the White Sox were a neat surprise last year.

since never in my life had any of my teams won, and when the Bus fumbled in Indy, I just said ah hell no I must be cursed, of course I was wrong in the best way because Bryant McFadden outshowed Peyton in the end.

. . . where the sports teams, thanks to bad management, bad draft choices or just plain bad luck, have not won a championship in a major sport for 42 years. Cleveland is the most snake-bitten city in the history of mankind. So yeah, despite having LeBron James on the Cavs, that's not happening.

none of the answers really fit for me.


I graduated from the Division II college with the most national basketball championships, and three of them were won when I was there.

It iw a real high when YOUR college team wins a national championship and you get to see the game, which we did back then becuase the long term home of that Division championship was across the river in Indiana. It was just amazing, the place was SRO and full of screaming fans.

Each time KWC wins another one, it is a really neat thing for me even though I graduated in 1969; we are up to 9 now, I think. And I think the school has competed in 16 Final Four tournaments? I could be wrong about that.

But it is a cool thing. Not the most important thing, but a cool thing.


On the other hand, some alum donated a bunch of bucks and the school finally has the Science Building that has been dreamed of for many years.

Maybe cuz Im a Bulls fan and I was spoiled for a few years. I just didnt seem to go nuts when the White Sox won it all.

22. It would satisfy me forever...

I'm a seattle based fan...mariners never won, seahawks didn't win...sonics won in like the late 70's, but i was only like, 2 yrs old when they won the NBA title...I really dont' have a preference for a college teams...I like Pac-10 teams, and usually cheer them on, but dont'have a fav...hockey, Canucks...:)

If i had my choice, i would want the Mariners to win the World Series, and they have been close to the dance a few times in Baseball...this past year with the Seahawks...damn, first time they actually did anything good in the playoffs, for quite some time...i'm glad they made it to the dance...but wish the outcome was different...:)

23. The play's the thing

Sport itself is the reason. Pennants are very nice indeed, but you gotta play before you can win.

I've been through some very good years and some very bad ones in 40 years as a Dodgers fan, but I've still listened to or watched 162 games a season. If you base your level of support or, worse, pick your team on performance, you're missing the point.

Then again, "pick your team" sounds alien, kinda like "pick your kids."

I don't have a favorite pro team. For college I'm a O.U. Sooner football fan, I want them to win every year.

25. Once they won, I stopped watching them for the most part.

As they say, the thrill is gone. I still love both teams Red Sox, Patriots (though I am REALLY MAD at the Sox for trading Bronson Arroyo) but the games are just not as important to me anymore.

I've been a Sox fan since '67 and a Patriots fan since at least '86, I stuck with them a long time. Now I'm satisfied.

The NBA moving to ABC killed it for me.. I used to watch a couple of games every weekend when NBC actually showed games. Now I don't care.
