South Park backs Chef for series (w/out Hayes)
(I hope that they aren't thinking of making Hayes a subject. That's not the way to treat an ex employee)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4829350.stm

Hayes gained a popular following voicing the Chef in TV's South Park
The 10th season of South Park will open in the US on Wednesday with a new episode featuring Chef, days after the departure of soul singer Isaac Hayes.
It will dispel speculation that the Chef character, which Hayes voiced, was to be axed after Hayes left over the show's satirising of religion.

A recent episode parodied the Church of Scientology, to which Hayes belongs.

It is not yet clear who is providing Chef's voice, said a spokesman for US TV channel Comedy Central.
*******
A synopsis of the new episode titled The Return of Chef states that the boys notice "something about Chef that seems different. When Chef's strange behaviour starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him."

1. I like Issac Hayes.
It is too bad that there is this rift between him and the South Park creators. Hayes should have known that Trey Parker and Matt Stone does not give anybody a brake. Every group and every religion is a target of their twisted humor. It is hard to say how much his departure will impact South Park. I hope it won't be a "jump the shark" moment. I love South Park! I also love the Chef character as he is the only cool adult on that show that isn't an idiot. He is the perfect foil!

2. It won't jump the shark
And like many have said, I find it sad that Hayes didn't have a problem with Trey and Matt bashing Christians, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, Mormons, etc...but when they target his religion he suddenly is concerned about respect.

South Park is hillarious and so successful because no one is safe-- and that's how it should be.

5. but he didn't get concerned when it first aired back
in November of 2005... he only got upset once Comedy Central planned to rerun it.

Isn't that really odd?

IIRC, the governing body of scientology never tolerates these parodies of their cult religion.

3. I'd like to seem him keep working.
It must be a cushy gig, and not every music artist gets what they deserve.

4. Dammit. I was hoping Mr. Derp would be his replacement
Remember him from the episode where Chef married the succubus? He was hilarious.

6. I think that they should launch a contest.
They should hold a nation wide contest to replace the voice of Chef.

7. I don't like the idea of replacing him with another voice
They should simply write him out of the show. Maybe show him running off to join some freaky UFO cult.

9. About that time I realized that cute, little Girl Scout
was a creature from the Paleolithic era. And I said, "Dammit, monster! What do you want from us?" And you know what he said?

"I'm gonna need about three-fitty."
