Another rant : People who spell " that " like " dat " need to be slapped .

I don't know but I am just noticing everything that pisses me off today . But people who spell " that " like " dat " need to be slapped . The word " that " is already short enough as a word but people feel the need to make it even smaller and write out " dat " - GRRRRRRRRRRRR WTF happened to grammar .

Ok I hope tomorrow is better because everything is getting on my nerves today . I shall return later with more rants ...

My aunt is a teacher and one of her students actually wrote " dat " instead of " that " - this 11th grade , and I just wonder how this student got this far .

Unless someone was trying to convey dialect - for example, an Ole and Lena joke - I don't know why anyone would do that.

Of course, I spell out words like "you" and "are" instead of saying "u" and "r", so what do I know?

What's even more odd is when people go to great lengths to substitute words that are longer than the originals.

For example:

"The beeyotch shouted shiznit..."

for "Dr Rice said, in a prepared statement...."

Fun is fun, but chronic users of "dat" and all the rest of it get a little tiresome after about -- oh -- 20 seconds of their poseur shiznit, yo.
