What type of connection does my school have?

A speed test shows it downloads at 18461 kbps, and uploads at 2229 kbps.

I'm not at a school right now, so I can't test it directly. What does that sound like?

Just to make sure.

18Mbps is about 3 T2 lines.

18MBps is about 3 T3 lines.

However, it could be that whatever speed you are showing is being limited by your ethernet or your wireless connection, assuming you are tied into a network by either one, or possibly by the router (at the direction of your IT guy, which is possible if you are in a school environment, which they might do to ensure that no one person can hog all the bandwidth at one time downloading off kaaza or porn or whatever).

There's a really good bet that whatever speed you are showing is nowhere near what the actual speed is of whatever connection your school actually has.
