Last night, I was bored as I went to bed. So I got to thinking. Does the location of a school based on that state's political leaning affect it in the NCAA tournament. (I know this is very odd.) So anyway, here's the breakdown of the Sweet 16: So called "Red" States have 8 teams (Duke, LSU, W. Virginia, Texas, Memphis, G. Mason, Wichita St, and Florida.) The "Blue" states also have 8 (Bradley, Gonzaga, UCLA, UCONN, Washington, Villanova, BC, and Georgetown)
Then I went to the 2nd Round. "Red" states have 19 (Duke, LSU, W. Virginia, Texas, Memphis, G. Mason, Wichita St, Florida, Texas A&M, N. Western St., NC State, Indiana, Alabama, Kentucky,UNC, Tenn, Arizona, Montana, and Ohio St.) "Blue sates have 13, (Bradley, Gonzaga, UCLA, UCONN, Washington, Villanova, BC, Georgetown, GW, Bucknell, Pitt, Illinois, and Wis. Milwaukee)
First Round: "Red" States 38 (Duke, LSU, W. Virginia, Texas, Memphis, G. Mason, Wichita St, Florida, Texas A&M, N. Western St., NC State, Indiana, Alabama, Kentucky,UNC, Tenn, Arizona, Montana, and Ohio St, Davidson, N. Iowa, Oklahoma, S Alabama, Nevada, Winthrop, Air Force, Utah St, Murray St, UAB, Belmont, Xavier, Arkansas, Oral Roberts, UNC-Wilmington, Southern, and Kansas) "Blue" States 26 (Bradley, Gonzaga, UCLA, UCONN, Washington, Villanova, BC, Georgetown, GW, Bucknell, Pitt, Illinois, and Wis. Milwaukee, Syracuse, Iona, S Illinois, Cal, Penn, San Diego St, Marquette, Albany, Mich St, Seton Hall, Monmouth, Wisconsin, and Pacific)
Yes, I know this is really weird.
