Miss Honeychurch and I have gotten to know each other through cyber space so well that she can almost predict how I will react to most situations. She knows how to make me smile and what will push my buttons.


I think that's wonderful for friends but how well does it work for intimate relationships?

To answer your question, I definitely seek a "partner in crime" in a relationship. And it's not that a relationship SHOULD be a challenge, just that it IS a challenge. People living together and putting up with each other is hard. There's plenty about the missus that drives me batshit crazy, and I know that sentiment is returned.

The trick is to find someone for whom the putting-up-with-it-all is WORTH IT.

17. I was reading an article while I was at the audiologist yesterday.

It was an in the Oprah Magazine. http://www.oprah.com/relationships/relationships_content.jhtml?contentId=con_200408_signs.xml There was a List of Red Flags which made me think a little about relationships because my ex raised a few of those little warnings (3, 9, 10) before we split.


Relationships do take work but as you pointed out ~ it's worth the effort when you're really in love.

I don't know if is really that way now, but that was my intention anyway.
I have anxiety and have always gotten overly emotionally excited over lots of stuff every day. I didn't go for a partner who would add more turmoil to my life or give me cause to feel that I had to become better to be worthy of him. I always did that enough to myself.

I want someone who's stable, reliable, even boring. I want a partner, in the legal sense of that word, one who sees our relationship as a joint venture. I want to be a "we" with another person and act with that person in the best interests of the "we" that we become.

I want to be available and able to meet my partner's needs, and I'd like my partner to be available and able to meet mine.

I do not want an emotional roller-coaster, and I don't want to work at the relationship. I want to work outside the relationship and relax within it.
