We may have to put our kitty to sleep.

Won't know until I call the vet back in an hour, but she thinks her kidneys may have shut down. She just got real listless, and stopped moving around like usual, and then couldn't even stand up. We were at the pet hospital real late last night, and they had to take x-rays, and do blood work.

Edit: I just called the vet, and her kidneys have failed. That's what usualy kills older cats. We are going to have to let her rest now.

Damn...

1. tywash, I'm sending some good vibes out for your kitty and you
and because the newest rule is that kitty threads have to have a picture, I'm posting a picture of a cute kitty.

2. I have had to go through this 3 times in the past 5 years. My advice is...
... if the cat is suffering, and there is no hope for the cat to recover, you must end the suffering quickly. To continue to let the cat suffer is cruel. It is the hardest decision you will ever make, and you won't feel good about it before, during or after. There is no way to make it not painful for you, it will be painful for you. But it will not be painful for the cat, you will be saving her from any further suffering. This is what you must keep telling yourself mentally, because emotionally it will not feel right. Just focus on what is best for the cat. Spend as much time as you can with her, take pictures and video, but if she is suffering, don't hesitate to put an end to it.

That's what usually kills cats too. We've had her for over 15 years. It's hard losing a member of your family like that.

8. Safe passage to your cat.
Might the suffering soon be gone. You're doing the right thing. Peace and comfort to you.
