I'm interviewing at Kelly Temp Services today
Wish me luck...I need to find a decent-paying job that will have me home by four in the afternoon before my kids get here for the summer...

3. I will never temp again.
One of my last temp jobs I managed to see the invoice from the agency. They were charging my employer $16 an hour and paying me $9...

:grr:

4. That's All?
The temp agency charged the employer $40/hr, paid me $17, and the employer charged out the client $100/hr.

6. in either of those cases
it seems kinda insane to use a temp then. Do benefits really cost over $7 an hour? Much less $23 an hour? You sound more like a contractor than a temp. Most of the temp jobs I have the factory keeps a permanent staff of "temps" in their plant.

At least a temp service will usually get you a job. I seem to be living in a town that has no temp jobs though. Unless you want to drive 45 minutes one way for a temp job.

7. What Benefits?
There were no benefits. That $23/hour was pure profit.

8. I mean for the company hiring the temp
why pay $40 an hour for a temp when you can hire somebody for $17 an hour plus benefits? It seems to me, that company would save at least $10 an hour if they bypassed the temp agency. Do benefits cost more than $5 an hour? FICA taxes are an extra 7.65% or $1.3 an hour for a $17 an hour person. 2 weeks paid vacation costs .65 an hour, and so does 2 weeks paid sick leave and two weeks of paid holidays. Insurance is $1 an hour. Total cost is $4.25 an hour and yet they choose to pay $23?
That is just bizarre.
