I don't like animals.
Does that disqualify moi from being a good liberal?

Dogs, cats, horses, bugs, fish, snakes, you name it... I can't stand any... (Never could.)

Nooooo!
Mother hates all animals since I can remember when and she's a true liberal.

I just "don't like" them.

8. what is it you don't like?
fur, feathers? Taking care of some other creature's needs? Are you possibly afraid of them since you've never had them around?

Just wondering if you know why.

9. Uh huh.
You know, I hear this from people who have never had pets. After they couple up with a pet person or get a pet of their own, they sing a different tune. :)

It takes a relationship with an animal to "humanize" them for you.

Just my opinion.

7. ya' never know!
I didn't have an animal most of my adult life. Then in midlife, I inherited a kitty. Wow. Totally changed my life. One of the best things to ever happen to me.

You can fall in love fast. Took me about eight hours, LOL.

10. You have my pity.
To have an appreciation for other animals is the most natural of human traits. Sadly, you are not alone, it is a major fault and result of our civilization.

I hope you get better.

23. I don't think it sounds judgmental...it's a personal preference.
Telling him his life must be "bleak" is no different than childfree people being told their lives must be "bleak" or "empty" without children.

Me? I love having my cat around. I can understand that other people don't.

And there is a big difference between not having children and actively not LIKING children. Same for animals. "I mean I can't stand any." I know lots of people who don't have pets that enjoy and like animals.

16. How about people?
Do you like people? If you don't like people, you aren't a good liberal.

There's a good John Lennon line from "A Hard Day's Night" later reflected in the movie "Wall Street" regarding how brits value animals more than people. There seems to be some of that across the political spectrum.

We don't have pets right now, I've never felt any overwhelming need for one, but I still like them.

I prefer to be in a place where we can see many wild animals, birds, fox, deer etc.

20. Me either. Or plants. Or minerals.
In fact, anything with chemicals of any kind in it just pisses me right off. Hell, let's just go ahead and include all things with atoms in them. Hate 'em.

And let's not forget that people are also part of the animal kingdom.

21. Wow. I can't imagine going through like disliking animals.
Thousands upon thousands of my happiest moments have involved cats and horses. Pets enrich my life to an unimaginable degree and are a constant joy despite the crap that life can throw at you. But, hey, people are all different.

I think you can still be a good liberal -- as long as you support environmental protection for animals and humans (also a type of animal, dontcha know).

22. No, it doesn't.
I am not an animal fan either. I don't mind them existing, of course, and I don't hurt them but I don't want them in my house or on my bed and I don't see why some people won't go anywhere without them, like my sister. They won't even take a vacation without their dogs and if she happens to visit me and leaves them home with her SO, she is calling all the time to see how the pups are.

Parades, Art Fair, parks where dogs are allowed to run off leash against the rules, outdoor cafes, dogs, dogs, dogs everywhere. Our annual taste of the city event (where I am a judge) has almost been ruined for me because it's so cluttered up with dogs and strollers the size of SUVs. Plus, I would think that animal lovers wouldn't want to take their dogs to hot, crowded, downtown events where they eat spilled food that can't be good for them and pant miserably because it's too hot and they don't have any water. That's animal cruelty, if you ask me, but if you mention it to the dogs' owners' they say "But we like to have them with us all the time!"
