3. NCAAs

GMU in the elite 8 whoulda thunk it, everyhere was expecting GW to go the furthest of the local schools. Bah and my puny so called campus dont even have intramurals, I'd love to play basketball again on a regular basis again.

Went to Gunston Hall when I Was a kid. Yeah college b-ball, when you dont got a school of your own to root for at least right now, you'll jump on any bandwagon.

I didn't even know they had a basketball team-- granted, I went there nearly 20 years ago, so maybe they didn't have a basketball team then....

According to my mom who went there around 25 years ago much like NVCC is now except a four year college.

9. One great thing about March Madness is that there are smaller victories

too.

For unheralded programs, just getting one win is big.

For a very good, but unknown, program like GMU, getting 3 wins is HUGE. Going to a Final Four would be awesome, and a great victory in and of itself, even though everyone wants the big prize, a spot in the FF is a major prize in and of itself, and rightly so.

It's only for the perennial powerhouses like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, U Conn., Syracuse etc. (and in older times, programs like Georgetown, Indiana, UNLV) that the expectations to actually win the big prize are more prominent.

I like how in college basketball, how relatively small schools, or small states, like Georgetown and U.Conn can achieve superpower status. This could NEVER happen in football.

11. GTown got eliminated tonight

Sigh I wsa hoping for them to do good too. I wish NCAA Football were more like NCAA basketball but I wish the NBA were more like the NFL lol. Yeah I dont even think Mason was in the tourney last year and if they were, tehy got the boot early. its interesting really because the formerly most perennial local team here, Maryland didnt even make it, GW which was probably the best of the three locals that made it got exited early, then Georgetown, and GMU is the only one left and they got a lot of mo now.
