What's your favorite Album...

5. Sentimental Hygiene
Warren Zevon riffs on his dependency issues with a candor that would make El Rushbo die of shame. And he has a Stipe-less R.E.M. in their heyday, backing him on every song, and collaborations with Neil Young, Dylan, and George Clinton (!) on various songs throughout. Underrated, no B.S., and featuring one of the prettiest songs he ever wrote (Reconsider Me).

RIP, WZ

Go out and buy it now while Matatdor has cut the prices on its "Classics" series.

Also, "Double Nickels on the Dime" by the Minutemen. The greatest semi-famous record of all time.

If I were going to pick a disc for a GbV newbie, that's the one I'd choose. My favorite is either "Self-Inflicted Aerial Nostalgia" or "Mag Earwhig." (It changes every week or so.)

Why does the credit say Page/Plant on Physical Graffiti? The lyrics are almost word for word stolen from Dylan. I think it's on his first album, but I could be mistaken.

by Miles Davis is my favorite all time, but most people have heard of that. I can listen to this album over and over and not get tired of it.

As far as no one has heard about "Ash Wednesday Blues" by Anders Osborne. He has a great slide guitar sound and uses a sousaphone for bass. I love the rich sound of the sousaphone.
